I can't wait to have local access to Alpine. I'm right near the CT/NY border. It hits NY next week and CT within the next couple weeks on tap.

I honestly can't wait for alpine to get to NY as well. I don't care about people making bad jokes/being assholes on social media...It seems like that is one of the main purposes of social media.

I was lucky enough to try nelson, duet and pure hoppiness from the source a few months ago when I visited San Diego. Nelson and Duet are absolutely world class beers and would be my go to order in any beer bar. I wonder how bombers will be priced. If I remember correctly they are around 6$ at the brewery but if they are 10$ when they reach the east coast then I will not be purchasing them to often.

Maybe in a few years we'll be able to drink societe on the east coast as well!

Cant wait to see the thread about how much the Alpine beers made at GF are so much better than the ones made at the pub from all the people just starting to get the beer.

Alpine is pretty small. I can't imagine the bottles they put out there would cover much more than their own pub/brewery and local shops/bars.

I'm a fan of pretty much everything GF brews, so I have a side-by-side set up with what is purported to be a GF bottle and a straight-from-Alpine bottle. I'm anticipating they'll taste the same. Should I be looking for anything on the label to indicate where it's brewed & bottled?

Anyone who sees labels this week on the East Coast, any mention of where it's brewed?

A buddy of mine just over-nighted Duet, Nelson, Pure Hoppiness, and Expo. First time having Expo!

I think they're only sending kegs out of San Diego. You probably won't see bottles in shops out on the East Coast. I didn't see anything on my bottle of Duet that would indicate it wasn't brewed at Alpine. I don't think they want people to know...

I stop at Alpine on my way to San Diego to drink from the tap and get bottles to go so it is awesome that AZ is in their rotation. Love just about everything these guys do. Had it on tap here in AZ when it was released. Not sure if it was from Green Flash or Alpines brewery but I really could not note any difference. When bottles start showing up next month we shall see if there is any difference. But being a big fan of GF for years and liking the quality they turn out IMHO, I am not too worried that there will be any drop in quality.

I've had Duet, Nelson, Pure Hoppiness & Keene idea either at the brewery or delivered in bottles by a friend who was in CA. It is probably a biased opinion but I did enjoy the beer at the brewery and a growler from the brewery more than the bottles I got at the brewery or the bottles delivered. Location and vibe are powerful influences. But honestly, since I've tried the ones that are available, I'll pass on what comes around here in the East. Next trip to CA, I'll go to the brewery or try and pick some up fresh if I'm not near SD. There's plenty of other, easy to obtain, beer to enjoy without having to chase or wonder where I can pick up some Alpine.

"I was afraid that legendary west-coast bias that so many bitch about would kick in"
West coast bias? You mean the obvious tendency of West Coast people to rate their beers LOWER? Pot meet kettle.

There is just something different about a true West Coast (or more specifically, SoCal or San Diego) IPA. Maybe it's the use of hop extrac (gasp!) with delicate malt bills, maybe it's the way they treat the water, maybe it's just a bunch of brewers who have hung out with each other long enough to learn the tricks of coaxing every bit of flavor and aroma out of hops. Whatever it is, you can't deny it's unique. There are other awesome hoppy breweries out there (Alchemist, Hill Farmstead, FFF, TG, etc) but none of them quite capture the sunshine and sand that is Southern California.

Alpine has been putting out such great beers, I'm very excited to see them expanding. Hope the quality stays true with the added distribution.

I think it's just a question of preference. I've tried my share of highly rated West Coast IPAs but for my money, nothing comes close to the hazy, hoppy New England IPAs (Alchemist, NEBCO, HF, Second Fiddle, etc).

Nelson is, without a doubt, the best Cali IPA that I've tried to date. It's not even close.

I got a 64 oz growler of this, and shared it with a few others. They all but freaked out at how good it was.

No, mostly via trading, where everything we can't get on the east coast is so much better, so much rarer, and therefore worth twice as much as a comparable brewery here. If you don't think this exists, try moving here and trading out west with someone who isn't a known, trusted, regular trading partner.

I discovered the same. Not a Nelson fan. Not a Mosaic fan. But for those who like Nelson, they tend to love Alpine Nelson.
