Taps and Caps must have got a fair amount of kegs, because I feel like they've had it for quite some time now.

They told me that Rick bought every keg he could get. Not sure how many that was but seems like they have had it for about 3 weeks.

Found a couple of bottles at Central Market in Fort Worth. Seems like bottles are starting to show up more often.

Found a bottle at WF Lomo Alto (Highland Park). Opened it last night. Something changed pretty dramatically. I last had YR late September and remember it being pretty dry and more aroma/ tropical fruit forward than bitter. This bottle tasted like they added more hops during the bittering stage of the boil and there was some residual sweetness. Maybe even some yeast issues... it didn't taste quite right.

Didn't they go back to using whole-cone hops very recently (read: January?)?

+1. I posted this on the other YR thread going but out of 3 bottles I bought, two were completely bad and the third was not bad (no QC issue that is) but it didn't taste like it used to. Much more bitter, and much less juicy citrus. I'm hoping it's growing pains.

    Apologies for the double post...

The bottle is more bitter up front. It's not bad by any means, but doesn't have quite the big juicy orange blast you get right away from the draft kegs.

Not sure. However, if this is the reason for the taste difference, (personally) I think they should go back. Why change something if it's working really well?

Me too. I am actually hoping it's a simple, correctable QC issues and not some change in the recipe.

I had a bottle last year and it was very juicy up front, like you described. It's significantly more bitter now.

Since they only use one hops, wouldn't the flavor change if the hops for a given crop were different due to weather conditions, timing of the harvest, etc?

I suppose so but, in all honestly, I think something else changed. I think it's a diacetyl issue but I'm no master brewer.

Diacetyl again? Are you talking about buttery taste? Mosaic drops off hard in a quick amount of time and many people confuse diacetly taste with a buttery, toffee flavor from malts. When the mosaic goes the malty-ness is all that's left.

I'm prick selective when getting yellow rose, like 2 weeks old or fuggedabout so I rarely run into the issue but I'd think it take a while before diacetyl buttery becomes the beer's flavor. I could be wrong, LP def has had some awful consistency issues.

I thought diacetyl can be present from the start? At least... Some of my failed home brews have. The bottle I got, I can only assume, was fresh so I doubt the mosaic hops had faded too much. There were a few issues with the bottle, bitterness and buttery-ness stood out to me. I could be wrong but that's what I could discern.

Someone said it best a few weeks ago in a different thread, "the leading cause of diacetyl is learning about diacetyl."

I don't know who said that or I'd give credit, I thought that was pretty funny.
