There's nothing like drinking-in a new season with a beer brewed especially for it!

Some what. I seem to only fancy big stouts when it's cold out. Other than that i'll drink whatever when ever.

I think this brings up an interesting point. DIPAs can be and are just as 'heavy' as most stout styles. Take for example the 12% abv Double Crooked Tree from Dark Horse in my fridge, sitting next to Narwal and Expedition. Even standard IPAs at 7% are just has heavy as a 7% stout or strong ale. Some stouts like Guinness are low abv. I think that color and flavor have more to do with the perceived 'appropriate-ness' in preference of seasonal styles. I would also say that because of the increasing palette for bigger and bolder flavors and styles, drinking "seasonal" to me is more about brand releases than a style-to-season relationship. Hopslam is released in January, as is Smitten Golden Rye.

Always - anything with lots of hops.
Summer - Saisons, Gose, Berliner Weisse, pilsner.
Winter - Browns, Ambers, maybe some stouts/porters.

I drink what I am in the mood for and whatever the best available is (which usually tends to be seasonal beers). I do enjoy having an out of season beer now and then as a nostalgic reminder of the pleasantries of the other seasons (ex. barleywines/imperial stouts during summer make me long for the comfort and wonderful smokey aromas of a roaring fire, or a refreshing pilsner during the winter helps remind me of a wonderful, hot summer day filled with baseball and bbq).

...Shit, I just drank a Prima Pils and I want to play some baseball and throw some meat on the grill now

It just depends. I used to change my beers with the seasons. During the spring and summer months, I would stick to IPA's and ambers and browns. During the fall and winters months, I would lean a little more towards porters and stouts. But my tastes have changed since I got into craft beer. Now I mainly drink whatever suits my fancy at the moment. Which right now seems to be IPA's. I just love the flavor and most other styles don't suit my pallet's taste. But I've been getting a lot more into lagers (I didn't use to like them a whole lot) because they're just so easy drinking and just so refreshing.

For me, it isn't the color. Hops are tart and crisp. Even a boozy DIPA is still crisp. My fav gardening beer is resin, for example. (I usually swig a 1/2 L of water before cracking a can). Malty stouts are sweeter, chocolatey and more syrupy.

I guess it's like dessert. Key lime pie when it's warm, and chocolate cake when it's cold.

Winter sees my dark beer consumption skyrocket. Stouts, porters, and especially Scotch ales I love in these cold winter months but I can still enjoy anything.

Most of the time seasons have no effect on what I choose. The main exception is wet hop season. Can't wait.

Weather definitely plays a big role in what I drink. When its June and 97 with 95% humidity outside the last thing I want is a barrel aged Imperial stout. I definitely try to get after fresh hop beers that follow the annual hop harvest when they come out. I'll definitely get after Octoberfest beers at the beginning of fall and usually indulge in a few of the stand by pumpkin beers in November.

    Depends on the season.

I don't partake in too many summer seasonals, because so many of them have been cookie-cutter blonde ales that lack any character except the drinkability of water. Unlike many, I actually kind of like the session IPA craze because at least it makes for more interesting tasting lighter beers. While I have to admit I'm fond of IPAs, I'm not stuck in hophead land - if more traditional style pilseners were brewed as summer seasonals I'd happily hop aboard that bandwagon and stay on for a while.

    Yeah, I hear you.
I was originally a dark beer fiend. I still dig 'em, along with a lot of other styles at this point. Really, the only time I stick to the weather conventions, though, is when I'm outdoors in summer. RIS's are fine when air conditioning is available, no matter what the calendar says, but it's a wee bit tough to down an Old Rasputin while outdoors in 100 degree heat. I'm all about a good pilsener at that point.
