Well at 6'2'" and 220 lbs a 750ml of high abv is pretty much an afternoon of usual drinking maybe 2 or 3 of them would be a problem but I only drink at home so it doesn't become a problem for me. Got to agree with @lackenhauser step up an put your big boy pants on!

If I open a beer at all, its because I'm committed to drinking it.

I bought a bottle of Sah'tea the other day but only drank about half. I have the cap back on and some plastic wrap wound around the cap as tightly as I can. Since it is at my girlfriend's house, I won't be drinking the rest of it until Friday. Is this a good way to keep it from going flat, or are there better options?

I use these all the time.

Edit: That beer is going to be flat. Ounce you pop the top, you have atleast 24 hours before the carb starts to fade.

Invest in a solid one of these ^ and just finish it the next day.

I can/will finish a 750ml by myself at anytime, so long as #1 I want to get drunk and #2 I can spare the 1100+ calories that are in a 750ml high ABV bottle.

I opened a Chocolate Rain for Valentine's Day and rubber stopper kept it happy for 2 snifter pours after the initial within an 18 hour period

These work surprisingly well. I opened a bomber of Victory at Sea late in the day after I had already had a few. Finished it off the next day and it still had plenty of carb.

I've "tested" a few beers. Belgian 750's lasted the longest. A week with those suckers. American beers...about 24-48 hours are optimum.

I usually drink the whole Bomber at once. But bombers are for Fridays or Saturdays a few hours before bed after dinner. I'll get buzzed. But I just fall asleep. Lol. I couldn't stand to drink a beer that's been sitting open A whole day.

Although I like to share big bottles because that's just the right thing to do. I have drank a big abv 750 ml before. Unless you have a low tolerance its not impossible. Think about it, it is not even two pints. The problem is if its something like Black Tuesday at 18%+ then you are drinking approximately 7 or 8 of "regular" beers in one. When I say regular lets use 5% as a standard to measure and 12 oz cans. Can you drink that many beers in one night? That is pushing the limit of where my hangovers come from, so as long as you stick to the one bottle, its really not overwhelming and especially if its an expensive bottle, do you really want to take the chance of it losing carbonation?

My drain has yet to be introduced to the leftovers of a bottle of beer if that gives you any indication...

Bards is the only drain pour I've had to date, so if you're looking a cheaper draino, pick up a sixer of this. Hell... I will buy a six pack just to come over and dump it with you.

But I agree with you, if I commit to buy a 750, I'm finishing that bad boy... Investing in a bottle of Advil and popping 2-3 prior is better than risking a half flat beer the next day...IMO

Get a some friends and share, or a decent stopper like the ones above and drink it over a few days. Cirrhosis is not cute.

depending on where you're at we can drain pour some Bards and then sip on some Black Tuesday or a variant of some sort...

I've never been hung over from beer but it's taken me an entire evening to finish some of the bigger beers in my resume.

I'm in Baton Rouge, but travel to Shreveport every so often. BTW...looks like a pretty impressive resume.
