I am not sure which version I picked it up but was shocked that my local shop sold me a four pack for around $11.50 after tax and deposit which is a real steal for the quality of the beer. I am guessing it was a mistake but if that price stands I think I will get another 4-pack. I am enjoying one right now, it is a little hot but I like it. Curious how it will hold up to age with it being a milk stout but at over 11% I would think with the right cellaring conditions it will hold up.

That is a huge mistake....if you look at the front of the label it tells you which barrels it was aged in

It was the Rye whiskey barrel. My go to store is usually a few bucks high on most of their beer so imagine my surprise when they gave it to me so cheap!

Yea if it doesn't say Koval then it's the Templeton, I'm pretty sure

Stumbled upon a 4 pack of this and picked it up and I'm damn glad I did. I had heard last year's wasn't very good so I was skeptical but this beer kicks major ass. Great barrel flavor with a nice chocolatey, sweet stout poking through. Gonna make sure to head down to the brewery next year a pick up more. To me this beer really holds it's own with the Black Note and BCBS.

I had them side by side last night. Both were hot showing much barrel character. The Templeton was spicier, sharper around the edges but very good. The Koval was creamier, and smoother to drink, and a little sweeter. I enjoyed both but Koval had the edge for me.

Has anyone seen this floating around Ann Arbor lately? Preferably sold as a single?

I passed up buying a four-pack in Kzoo last night and have a bit of non-buyer's remorse.

I'm looking for more as well. I totally missed the release on this but had it on tap at GB about a month ago and it was awesome. To my surprise I found a couple bottles afterward in Milford. Same price as above....$6.50 ea. If I find more I'll let you know. I also picked up a very limited release at GB last week.....Sheep in Tall Grass (colab with Right Brain). A Rye Whiskey barrel aged Scotch Ale. It too is awesome and stacks up above Dirty Bastard IMO. Unfortunately, their 20 cases are gone and never to be bottled again (supposedly). If anyone wants to try it, I'm looking for some BN

Are they clearly labeled which barrels were used? I saw a 4 pack and passed initially for $23. Was only 1 version bottled and distributed this year or is there a couple versions bottled? I guess I didnt look closely enough to read the label well enough.

Both versions were bottled. I don't believe the 4 pack holder stated which version it held. The bottles are most definitely labeled as to which version is inside though. I finally got my hands on the Templeton version, tried it the other night. Both are good but the Koval gets the nod from me.

Had it on draft last week and wasn't greatly impressed. Not sure which version. It is entirely possible that I'm just "BBAed out" though and that three years ago this thing would've blown my mind.

According to their offerings for the Winter Beer Fest, there are apparently 3 versions - Templeton, Koval, and Journeyman.

Had my first a couple weeks back and was not at all disappointed. Between this and Dystopia, I'm officially sold on Greenbush.
