Go to the Italian/Austrian alps where the beer's better! But honestly, I've never been skiing in that section of the alps so I can't comment on any specific beer you should look out for. I imagine you'll have access to some decent german lager in a few places as well as some pretty solid weissbier. The skiing should be excellent though.
The last time I went skiing over that way I discovered a few small french breweries - there might be even more by now. You may come across beers from Brasserie Leman and Brasserie du Mont-Blanc; certainly the former were pretty good. http://www.biere-leman.com/leman-accueil.php http://www.brasserie-montblanc.com/ I can't speak for Switzerland as I only came across French microbrews, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Perhaps someone else can add more info....
It's actually one of the beer-ier regions in France (perhaps faint praise, but French craft brewing is coming along). Don't think of German styles, think closer to Belgian. Besides the above, Brasserie du Mont Salève, La Franche and there are lots of others popping up. Where to drink and shop for them, as not as sure, but most groceries will have some small but not great selection of locals.
Any update on this, recent visitors and local tipplers? I'll be stocking a fridge for a short vacation in Haute Savoie tomorrow. Hard as it is not to just bring my own stash of lambics to go with the amazing cheese...
On the Swiss side of things, if you can find some Storm and Anchor, I enjoyed a few of their brews. I seem to recall their Citra Saison being decent. I imagine this wouldn't be your route, but if you travel through Bern, the Hauptbahnhof there has a surprisingly good beer shop in it.
I didn't go too far out of my way but hit a couple groceries. Brasseurs Savoyards has a couple new thirst-quenchers but nothing especially memorable.
