I lived outside of Philly last year and went to SideBar in WC. My boy works there and I was in line for maybe 1.5 hours and was 20th in line, he had a pour waiting for me when I got in. Helps to know people. It kicked within 10 minutes. Live in AZ now and dont have easy access anymore. AAARRRGHGHHH!!!!

I went last year during the last week of release and got there at 8am, was probably 10th or so in line, by 11am the line was down the block and past 135, but didn't appear as bad as from what people said the opening week was; planning on doing it the same way this year. I'm coming from Orlando also, BUT I fly for free and had/have a free place to stay, if I didn't I would not be going through all this trouble of waiting lol

From Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles:

I'm glad it's for charity and all, but I have a limit of paying no more than a buck an ounce for beer.

    It's $4.75 (I think) for a 10 oz glass. Math... it's hard.

The last two years I've gone on the Sunday before presidents day... I figure it's less crowded than Saturday, and myself and most of the people I go with have the following day off work.

I think last year might have been the peak of the hype. Definitely seemed a little less packed this year, and from what I've read, people are generally having shorter wait times.

Both years I've gotten in line at 5am and been within the first 2-4 groups in line. Which is rad, because when we get it in it means we can basically sit anywhere and are greeted by a round of Youngers. That first taste is pretty exciting.

Cry all you want about how stupid it is to wait in line for a beer, but it's fucking fun. Those 5.5 hours fly by (they open at 10:30 during the Younger release). You can make coffee runs, porta potty runs, play cards, enjoy a dip, play on your phone, talk to other people if you're super bored, etc. Both times the line part was fully enjoyable.

They did start enforcing the 3 Younger limit this year with wrist bands that have 3 tags on them. I know they said 3 was the limit last year, but I got 6 without any hesitation from our server. This year, only had 4 (got an extra from one of the ladies in our group), which was fine, as l then was able to get the sampler, which is my favorite that I've had at a brewery.

Also, Lagunitas has SF Fusion during the same time, so I go there on Saturday when I get into town. No line, and that beer is great. Also happened upon a place for dinner nearby after our time at Russian River that was serving pints of it (Lagunitas only gives ~10 oz pours). All around phenomenal beer-focused weekend.

Exactly my experience. The line, just like life, is what you make it. If you are going by yourself and don't want to talk to people and are only there to drink the beer - you are probably going to be disappointed.

It's all about camaraderie and having fun in line and then drinking your fill of Younger, a couple glasses of your sour of choice (which are still world class), getting a tasting tray, and eating food.
