Hi everyone. I'm coming to Boston (staying in Cambridge) for the first time in two weeks. It's a special trip for a very special person's birthday, and I want to do everything I can to make it perfect for him. His favorite beer is Kilkenny but he has never found it in the US. I've heard that a few pubs have it, and am hoping to find one in Boston. Do any of you know of anyplace in the Boston area that seves Kilkenny? I've googled this and googled it, but haven't come up with any leads. Thanks in advance!
Its distributed by Diageo. May want to send them an email. http://www.diageo.com/en-row/Pages/contacts.aspx
I know that the Green Briar in Brighton had it at one point. I haven't been there in some time though. Looking at the website that might no longer be the case. http://www.greenbriarpub.com/menus/index.htm
Haven't seen it around in awhile. Outside of contacting Diageo the Sunset Grill in Allston has Wexford Irish Cream which is similar. http://www.allstonsfinest.com/menus/sunsetgrill_beer_menu.pdf
If you'll have a car during your visit, you might consider a day trip down to the Cape. A place in Hingham was apparently offering it on draft when they first opened. Might want to check if that's still the case before you make the drive. But Brown is proudest these days of a new distinction: The Snug has been chosen as the only local launching site for the famed Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale. It’s now on tap http://www.boston.com/ae/food/resta...little_bit_of_ireland_at_the_snug_in_hingham/
EDIT: I meant a drive down to the South Shore. Hingham ain't on the Cape. (In fact, you could get down there using public transportation; find a suggested route using Google Maps -- click on the "bus" icon.)
I had it at Vaughan's Publick House in Hartford, CT a few weeks ago. I couldn't image driving 10 miles (never mind 110 miles) for this beer, however. To each his own.
Just to update this thread; I had a glass of this on nitro tap last night at Dubliners at Mohegan Sun.
