Western Detroit 'burbs, Beer Baron, Wine Castle and Wine Palace. We have some royal-type shit going on.

Also, Costco for Belgians and local variety packs (Short's, Bells) on the cheap

I'm from Roselle and go to those 2 Binny's stores and Armanetti's too. I'll also go to Jewel if I need something like Sierra Nevada.

I'm not answering your question, but want to say that I went to UMASS and have not heard "the Spirit Haus" uttered in years! So cheers to that place! Went there a few times and thought it was a great shop.

How is the bar scene in Western Mass these days? I remember going to Moan and Dove, Dirty Truth and ABC. Are they still around?

Binny's expanded out of Chicago down here a couple years ago. It has a very solid selection and good pricing.

Friar Tuck's is better, but it is in Savoy about 20 minutes farther from where I live. If I have a reason to go that far south I will go there because they equal Binny's selection and prices with a couple percent lower local sales tax which makes a big difference after a few bomber runs.

I used to grab beer at grocery stores like Meijer, but I rarely do so anymore unless something is on sale because their normal prices are higher than the liquor superstores.

Downtown Specs, and D&Q Beer Mart are really the only regular places I buy beer from.... Local grocery store has a decent selection too

I knew Randall's in Fairview Heights would have DFH, but not The Bruery and Lost Abbey. That's probably 25 minutes each way that I will have to arrange now!

I get a lot from The Wine And Cheese Place,Whole Foods, Craft Beer Cellar (love that they do holds),Schnucks for exclusive stuff by Schlafly,4 Hands, and soon Perennial. Even Trader Joes and now Fresh Market opens here next week. We are lucky to live here.

I usually go to Sam's Bottle Shop or TW. I'll hit Beer Study once in a blue moon.

I live near the VA border, so I'll occasionally visit Vintages on the Dan. It is not nearly in the same league as Sam's, but it is a good place to get a fix for stuff I can't get in NC, like Firestone or SixPoint.

    Chi-town repping here!

    1) Binny's Lincoln Park - Not the closest one to me, but my favorite, and the staff is really nice. That tap room is great too (my girlfriend rarely says she wants to go to a specific tap room, but does for this one). Obviously fantastic beer/liquor selection, although it's such a high-traffic area that timing is of the essence when picking up anything hot.

    2) West Lakeview Liquors - Probably the closest place to me with a great beer selection. Another place with great staff, and they've got a cool bourbon section, which is a big reason I go there. Family-owned, which is always nice.

3)The Beer Temple - I don't get to go here much because it's out of my way, but the owner (Chris) is super passionate about beer (he's on BA, for example), gets stuff super fresh, and has a great selection.

I'm in the beer wasteland of Northwest DFW.

Close to home option is Fossil Creek Liquors in Saginaw.

Luckily, I work close to Central Market and Spec's in Fort Worth. Easy to hit while on my lunch break.

The east side metroplex guys have some option that I wish I had.

Look at the big brain on Brett..... Sorry, couldn't resist the Pulp Fiction reference.....

Seriously though, I go to Kroger for daily drinkers, TW for stuff that Kroger doesn't get (seriously though, Kroger near me is effing killing it), Whole Foods is dependable place if I'm out of my area and finally, I hit a few bottle shops in the area (Once Upon a VIne north and south and Corks & Kegs) enough to be recognized as a somewhat regular. I also have one or two convenience stores in my area that inexplicably get limited releases from Hardywood. As long as they keep getting them, I'll keep going there. No line, no fuss, no limits, nothing but rednecks looking at them wondering why someone would spend $12 on a bottle of beer when you can get some Natty Light for like $4 or whatever. Awesome.

Wegmans opened in my area. Surprisingly, they had a lot of newer bottle dated beer, but a limited mix a six selection.
Nothing esoteric and hard to find- but all the major Craft Beer players. Good pricing.

    North of Detroit/Oakland County:
-Holiday Market in Royal Oak is great for fresh, rotating stock with some great prices and fantastic for single-bottle shopping
-Off the Wagon in Clawson - not as much of a selection as above and the prices are generally $1-2+ higher per sixer or bomber price, but also great for single bottle shopping closer to home and amazing customer service
-Whole Foods in Troy - also higher prices, but not bad for a on-the-way home selection
