Cans made it to Tasty Beverage and Ridgewood for sure. Gose was almost gone at Ridgewood and White Thai wasn't too far behind. Glad to see Westbrook in our area. Hopefully seasonals and such make it our way down the line.

On my 2nd One-Claw, canned 2/3 and tastes great.

I've never heard the folks at Westbrook say it's a session or an IPA. On the can it's described as a "rye pale ale." I agree with everything else, though. It's very good.

They can call it whatever they want, just saying it functions as a session ipa for me. But yes I realize it says the words "rye pale ale" on the can.

Good luck with Westbrook..I live 2 miles from the brewery and the ONLY thing you can find in town is White Thai[skip it],One claw,a Gose, and a pale ale....I seriously don't know where all this Westbrook love comes from. The place is MASSIVE and it seems it would be everywhere in town but it's not.I really wouldn't call it a hometown fave by any means.

The fact that it sells out quickly seems to counter your point that it is not a hometown fave. Most of my Charleston buddies like COAST a bit more, but they fight what seems to be a vocal minority of folks that just want to bash Westbrook for being popular.

No,it doesn't 'sell out'...I just saw a massive display of those four beers at a local Bottles...it's all they can get AND they don't move quickly...words from the manager....

If you live 2 miles from the brewery then why don't you just go up to to the brewery and get other bottles? Unless their website is wrong, it says that they have 3 other bottles than the ones you mentioned available. And a quick check of the Charleston Beer Exchange's site says that they also have Fisticuffs, Lictenhainer, and Udderly.

    What am I missing here?

That's odd. I've bought Citrus Ninja, Udderly stout, Mexican cake, and other stuffs from Bottles. Maybe something has changed though.

You're missing the 'local vibe' on this brewery...you don't live here. The local bartenders and beer outlets that I frequent have the same feelings about Westbrook. Other breweries in town offer more to the LOCAL scene and just have a better buzz about them. Coast is hosting Brewvival this year again, not Westbrook. I think Westbrook is thinking more on a national distribution level;you could get Wedding Cake in California but not here??? And please no replies about the economics of beer making and distribution.

Curious what Wedding Cake you are referring to. Are you thinking Mexican Cake?

Sounds like you are just extremely opposed to Westbrook. As a local, you had a great chance of getting Mexican Cake at 6pp from the brewery. Maybe you just aren't willing to wait in line for an extremely popular release. You could have also got some BA Mexican Cake by just showing up the morning of the release at the time they said the were giving out wrist bands. It doesn't reach California, except via trades, so I have no idea why you are making that assertion.

Okay, now this is a bit over the top. I bought 6 Mexican Cakes at the brewery at release. I bought another 2 at Bottles, and my sister grabbed two at CBX. Total Wine and House of Brews both had Mexican Cake as well. It was not distributed to California. Westbrook only distros to New York, Alabama, and Georgia (now NC as well), and the state of SC saw WAAAAAY more Mexican Cake than anywhere else.

There are things to complain about Westbrook for sure. But, we shouldn't just make stuff up. And trust me, there is a LOT about the Charleston Beer Scene (and really the explosion in SC) that is directly tied to Westbrook's success. I had a problem with their lack of contribution to the Stone Law lobbying efforts, but I guarantee you if it weren't for beers like Gose, Mexican Cake and BA Cakes, the Stone Law would not have been introduced b/c the beer scene would still be at infantile stages.

All that said, COAST is the tits.

You categorically stated that the only Westbrook beer that was available "in town" (which I assume to be Charleston) was White Thai. I then presented to you 2 places that you can indeed get some of their other beers at this very moment. You then ignore all of that and say something about the "local vibe" of the brewery...?

You're right, I don't live there. Which makes it all the more odd that I can figure out where to find their beers better than you seem to be able to.

Read it again,I stated there were 4 beers, not one. And if you trust in what a website says is 'in stock'....I guess you are better at finding beer than me.Good lord man this is not the debate club.

You're right, you said all the cans not just White Thai. But everything I said is still valid, as the other beers that I identified were all bombers. And no, this is not a debate club or even a debate. You are saying things and we are proving them to be wrong.
