I've noticed that Enjoy By has been sitting on shelf past the date on the bottle. Is their attempt at this approach to the IPA starting to fall short?

I think the buzz is dying down on many areas that have frequently had this in the past. I still love it and buy a bottle usually, but now there is often two dates going at once and a smaller time period between new batches. This is a good thing, and I am certainly not complaining, but I think that is why it is sitting on shelves a little longer. The novelty of this beer is fading, but it is still just as good IMHO.

It is a great beer but most have tried it and moved on. Now it's sitting.

I mean even If it's a week past the big ass date on the front of the bottle, that means it's still only 41 days old. Still pretty fresh.

It's always gone well before the Enjoy By date around here.

I've been seeing it sit longer and longer as well. Maybe they need to re-evaluate the price? Why buy a bomber when you can get similar 4 packs for almost the same price? I still usually buy one, it's an amazing beer IMO.

they make it too often. Plus the recent ones haven't been as good. it's like a good steak. Eat them all the time and it's not as good special anymore.

The dates seem to be getting too close, as people have already mentioned. However, as Stone always does they will soon be re-inventing and coming out with 12 oz bottles.....as well as Enjoy by Black IPA.

Never.....never....never.....think Stone will stay stale. They always re-invent

To me, the new 3/14 batch is one of the better recent ones. The next 420 usually always has a good bit of extra love inserted. But yes, its becoming too much. Every month they have a new batch coming out, and like stated they even overlap batches now. Six times a year is kool, 11 or 12 is too much.

Right, but who pays $9 for a six week old DIPA?

OP: the problem is availability. It used to be that only one or two states at a time would get it, and even then, they'd get relatively small shipments. People would buy more because they were curious, and more still to trade away to other regions. Then it became dozens of states getting it, with stores getting case after case. Here, it jumped from "our two case allotment has arrived!" to walking past a shelf with almost 100 bottles on display.

When it was harder to find, people were more interested in trying a beer with a little it of mystery to it. Now that they can count on seeing it on shelves virtually every other month, why spend more on it when they can get a greater amount of an old favorite or try a different limited release? (The latter is not my personal approach, but I feel that's the way it goes.)

Not me, apparently. I just was at a store today that had a case of 2-14-15 right by the register, obviously trying to move them. I grabbed one, mistakenly thinking it was the new one, but then put it back. The price tag was $8.99. If they were blowing them out at $7.99 I guarantee I would have held on to it.

Yeah, I did joke with the owner about how it was 'too stale', but still didn't buy any . At this point I'm still questioning just how rational I am at certain times, but would it have killed them to at least put a 'For Sale' sign on it and maybe drop it a buck?

The only reason I don't buy this too often, is due to the fact that I can't go crushing 22oz of this beer in one sitting. Now, at 12oz or so, it would be a different story, at the right price point of course.

I want to try it, but typically do not buy bombers because of the price. Enjoy by is $8.99 here which works out to about $27 a six pack. I'd much rather load up on Hop Juju for $13.99 a four pack or Dirt Wolf $8.99 a four pack because I know I like them. Even Hopslam at $17.99 is bargain comparatively.

I think 4/20 is supposed to be in 4/6 packs...be interesting to see how it is priced.

i always enjoy the enjoy by series. I think people overlook it because its stone and all the beer snobs only want rare beers these days. Pretty lame how thats how a lot of the "craft" beer drinkers are these days. They walk past sooo many good beers on the shelf and only look for rare beer (ex. bourbon county, kbs, sip of sunshine, gandhi bot, etc.) and if they dont get it they leave with nothing and go to the next store and try. In my store we call them cherry pickers . Enjoy by 3-14-15 was great btw. I think the bee has its own following.

It was my understanding that each batch was brewed with a different hop variety? I only had one, it tasted like onions, I never bought another despite assuming the next would taste different. There's too many other beers out there to keep buying the same bomber ... for me.

I've gotta say...I typically don't buy bombers for just the same reason. But I feel like this is one that's worth buying just once just to scratch that itch. Personally, I prefer it to Hopslam (which I don't buy anymore), so the fact that it's more per ounce doesn't bother me. That said, I haven't actually bought any Enjoy By this year and won't be rushing out to look for it. But I do think it's worth giving a shot - maybe check local bars if the 12oz format isn't any cheaper when it comes out.

I work in a liquor store... and our distributor has already hinted that they would be introducing a 6 pack... hell my pricing team already sent down a 15.99 price tag for it. :grinning:

I still love it and it's the only beer you can get guaranteed fresh. I usually buy a bottle every release. These new 6 packs will be a game changer.

Are we sure it won't be in a four pack? All their other higher ABV options are in 4 packs and Enjoy By is much higher in alcohol compared to say, Ruination. Four packs at $11.99 would be good for me.
