I'm drinking a bottle now and much to my relief it tastes great to me. i believe yall about infected bottles and all, I'm just trying to get a sense for exactly what it was that indicated to you that it was infected. I guess I'm lucky, but I can't remember ever having a beer that was infected before, despite drinking some of the same ones that people had had documented issues with.

Was pretty good, but a bit thin for the style. And muddled indeed.

I hear you. I'm not one to throw out the "I" word lightly, but as someone who buys a lot of Duck-Rabbit's Baltic Porter every year, I definitely noticed that something was up a couple years ago. Fortunately it seems to be back on track.

I've really enjoyed the two bottles of Anarchy I've had. Hopefully they don't go south on me!

Far be it from me to tell a seasoned craft beer drinker that they can't diagnose an infection, and certainly Duck Rabbit has had this issue before. But I cracked one open tonight out of curiosity (and frankly fear for the 6-7 bottles I have left) and found it still spot on. Not the hugest body, but then again it's not all stout and porter, and a great depth of nose and character, including the aforementioned red wine notes. Given the big red wine notes, I could see finding this beer to be infected, but on the other hand, having now consumed several bottles bought at different times from different stores, and given that this entire batch was blended, it's really hard to imagine a scenario where only select bottles were infected.

The beer that I opened had unintentially soured. It had a pronounced sour quality. Far from the previous bottles that I had opened earlier and much different than just a wine barrel would produce. Sorry some of you are having trouble believing that this could happen. I have a mighty fine beer tasting palate and this is not something id throw out there if I did not experience it.

As someone who is sitting on about 6 bottles and hoping to cellar some, I think I was just hoping you were crazy.

Given DR's trouble past of contamination with non-BA beers (Rabbid Duck, Baltic Porter, etc.), this is likely not related to the barrel-aging process and thus not widespread across the entire production. I would venture to guess the contamination is from the packaging process and will likely vary bottle by bottle.

I grabbed a few bottles when it first came out. Anarchy isn't the greatest barrel-aged beer in the world, but it is absolutely worth a try if you're a fan of Duck-Rabbit and/or barrel aged beer. $5-7 for a 12oz bottle is a pretty fair price for this beer. Definitely worth buying one or two if you're a little interested.

Opened an infected bottle today. Suddenly this price point is not looking so good. Kind of pathetic that DR celebrated its 10th anniversary by releasing an infected beer. Mine were not refrigerated after purchase. Not that it should matter...

Like I mentioned before, I hate claiming that a beer's infected, but ...

... a couple nights ago, I opened a bottle of Duck-Rabbit's Baltic Porter. This is probably a top five beer for me -- I just love it. And because of this, I was as disappointed as anyone when bottles started going sour a couple years ago. Having had many, many bottles of this beer, I knew something was off. And so I'm sad to report that the bottle of Baltic Porter I had a couple nights ago was definitely exhibiting a tartness that was not there when this beer first hit shelves.

I keep my bottles cool in a wine fridge, too, so it's not a matter of them being stored improperly.

Perhaps an ignorant question as I have never tasted an infected beer, but how can you tell?

tart and metallic for the few I have had (Dude Imbides and multiple Duck Rabbits). Your first sip is a WTF moment.

Has anyone contacted Duck Rabbit about this? And if so, what are THEY saying?

The head blew up coming out of the bottle on the pour. More than you'd expect with a BA beer. Tart red berry notes on the nose. Acidic finish clashing with the rich maltiness. I like sours so I was curious if the infection would actually have a pleasant effect. Nope. Drain pour.

Good point. I just sent them a message explaining what I experienced. I'll report back here if/when they respond.

Yep, very much my experience (though the head wasn't too crazy). But it's so tart and acidic, that it destroys the beer I know it to be. It's a definite change as compared to what the beer was a month or two ago (speaking of Baltic Porter here, personally, as my last Anarchy was okay -- but now I'm wondering if I should crack another to see).

Based on this thread I opened a bottle tonight and unfortunately it tastes like I poured it on top of a few ounces of La Folie. It's enjoyable enough for what it is (meaning not so bad as that I drainpoured it) but not what it was at release. Not really surprising since some of the barrels blending into this were filled when their infection issue was at it's worst, but rather tragic since this was such a great beer.

I just opened my first bottle, and it is very sour. I couldn't imagine one red wine barrel causing it to be this sour. I actually love sour stuff (candy etc. ), and this is very sour. I wish I had been able to try this earlier so I could have made a comparison. Unfortunately, the sour/tart is completely overwhelming.

I still haven't had a bad bottle per se, but the evidence here is overwhelming. Given how much the beer cost and the repeated issues at D-R, I can safely say I've purchased my last beer from them.
