The DR stuff I had that was infected had a sour cherry taste to it, but this their Baltic Porter years ago.

DR definitely pays attention to this issue I'll guarentee that.

Sadly, I have to agree with this sentiment. I haven't personally had a bad bottle yet, but I have 5 left and it's starting to sound like it's only a matter of time. Getting an infected bottle of Baltic Porter is one thing, but this stuff was pretty expensive. So if any of mine do end up being rotten, that's it for me with DR.

To those who've had an infected bottle - how were you storing it? Room temperature? Cellar? In the fridge?

The bottle I had at Duckworths (Huntersville) was very good - but it was dry and very slightly tart, which I perceived as being from the one red wine barrel. I didn't consider it to be infected - but maybe it was? IDK. I don't think I've ever had a bottle of infected Duck Rabbit - but then, with all the noise about infection issues I've pretty much steered clear from them for several years now.

There's your problem. Never cellar your beer right beside a roaring fire, that's just asking for trouble.

-Hey, that's a step up... at least they are inside now. He used to just keep them in junk Camaro in his back yard.

Guys mention the red wine barreling, could be the tart acidic taste is coming from that and not a true infection.

I'd say this is widespread enough and has happened to enough people to say this is actually an infection.

I cracked an Anarchy just now, worried that it might be going south (both from the comments here and my aforementioned experience with a Baltic Porter a few nights ago). Yes, this beer had a little tartness from the red wine barrel when it was first released. It was nice, and I really enjoyed it. Didn't even *think* it was infected.

But things have changed. The beer before me right now is really sour and almost smells like paint thinner or nail polish. This is definitely not the beer it was when it was first released. Again, I loved it then -- now, no way.

DR can't afford another infection issue the other was was quite widespread and really hurt their reputation.

Especially not for a $6 12 oz. bottle. I messaged them via Facebook, no response yet. I'll let you know if I get one. Problem is, what are they going to replace it with, some more suspect beer?

They don't replace their infected beers. You will be lucky to get a few coasters.

Yea , a snifter glass and other swag last time. I didn't buy any of this one, looks lie I'm passing at this point. I've had infected Baltics and Milk Stouts, I wouldn't expect this from a release like this one. If they internally can not get this right they will be severely hurt.

I had infect 6er of Duck Rabitor and Hoppy Bunny, emailed Paul directly 3 times (as he instructed us here on BA). Not so much as a reply to the email. Haven't bought a DR bottle since.

I contacted Duck-Rabbit through their website and received a response the next day. I then followed up explaining the situation a little deeper, and received yet another response. So, I applaud them for their communication. I'm not going to post the entire conversation, but in essence she said they were sorry I had a negative experience, asked for details on the off flavors, asked about the storage conditions of the beer, and said she would pass the information along to the owner, production manager, and QC manager.

well...looks like I am going to check out one of the three I am cellaring to see if I get the same thing. Wow, really bummed about this if I have three infected bottles.

If DR doesn't try to make this right, I'll be done buying their beer. This is officially a "fool me twice" scenario given their previous infection issues.

I drank one maybe 3 weeks ago and had zero complaints, bummed to hear about everyone else having issues

In the interest of piling on...

I found some the other day and luckily just bought a single at $6 to give it a shot. This isn't a wine barrel presence, just flat out infection. This being the 3rd or 4th time I've spent $ on drain pours & I'm done w/ DR which is a shame. They were a brand that I considered to be the face of NC Craft Beer at one point & it's maddening that they can't figure this out.

Of course, this being a blend of so many older beers, maybe they have figured it out and one or two elements of anarchy were leftover from a time where they hadn't figured it out.
