I'd buy ten cases of Abrasive before I buy one Pipeworks. It's far and away better than anything I've had from them (save for Square Grouper).

He probably was commenting on your ability to bring in hate towards another brewery that had absolutely nothing to do with the thread.

considering this is a thread about Abrasive specifically in Chicago and Pipeworks has produced nearly 50 different IPAs that seem to flood Chicago liquor stores, I'd say the comparison is pretty relavent. Saying Abrasive is better isn't necessarily hate

How is *any* comparison relevant? This is a thread about where to find Abrasive in Chicago, not a thread to rank midwest IPAs. It seems a little silly to go out of the way to crap on a brewery that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Well I can see it being relevant in the sense the poster is emphasizing how important it is for himself to find abrasive in Chicago by mentioning its relative worth compared to other local DIPAs.

My initial comment was in reference to this post on the previous page:

"The equivalent of a $6.19 bomber is too expensive?!? Even if they were 12oz cans that's only a $8.25 bomber. Not trying to tell you what to do with your money, but that's a steal for a beer you just called phenomenal."

That's why I brought Pipeworks into the mix. Sending thoughts and prayers to them. Somehow I believe they will overcome my sideswipe.

Hopefully their 4 packs of 16oz cans will be cheaper than Abrasive and then we can cheer them!!

While I love Abrasive as much as almost anyone, I think Pipeworks' citra-forward beers are pretty much on par. Sure Bet and Crimson Snapper were both worthy competitors to Abrasive (never got to try Square Grouper). Either way though, it's great to be able to get a 4-pack DIPA of this quality.

Side note: I'd like to see Surly turn the LP Binny's Abrasive release into a trend here in Chicago; it was a cool time, and we got the benefit of having 3 of their beers on tap for days there as well (and $5 for 12 oz. pours! niiiice). It'd be cool if they did a mini-Darkness day here too, although that's probably asking a bit much.

Resurrecting this thread in the search for some abrasive. I will be in chicago from thurs-mon with a car and more than a pedestrian level knowledge of the city...I remember finding a bunch last year at Andersonville Liquors...any honey holes still remaining? Feel free to BM. Cheers.

last canning was 2/6 so if you find any, you'll be lucky.

You might be lucky and find it on draft, too.

It is still all over the Twin Cities if you need some shipped. Mostly canning date 1/23 or 2/6, but it holds up.

Wow, still? I posted an ISO and feedback is that it would be hard to get. Anyone interested in trading a 2/6 4 pack?
