Good point on infection in the older beers that were blended in.

I'm curious if they'll respond to any of the posters above who reached out.

Too bad you can't put "sorry" in your pocket/wallet or your fridge. That's not good enough. They need to refund people.

Had two when it was first released. Really liked it. Just opened one a second ago based on this thread......undrinkable. I may as well email them too.

I have had 4 out of the 6 I bought and all have seemed fine to me (though it was my first experience with any DR products). Does the infection show up over time or has it been present immediately? Wondering if I should go ahead and down the other two I have....

Was the bad one from the same 6-pack?

In my experience (and others, judging by the thread), the bottles were fine at first (exemplary, in fact) and have been getting progressively worse. Should you be so unlucky as to have some infected bottles (and maybe some folks don't, for whatever reason) then you will notice it.

You'd think they'd be smarter than to knowingly blend infected barrels into their 10th anniversary beer.

Also, Handle mentioned an infected Baltic Porter as well, so this may not be isolated to just Anarchy:

Yeah, which speaks to a larger problem, IMO. Releasing & charging $30 for six packs of something you know(or at least have a pretty damn good idea) is infected.

Given their past issues with infections, perhaps "Let's make our 10th anniversary beer a blend of many vintages" wasn't the sharpest plan.

    Perhaps they're ducking the issue...

This is crazy. I have literally bought 3 bottles of duck rabbit beer in my life, and all three were infected. My first was their milk stout. I bought a bottle at the beginning of last summer while on a camping trip. This was before I knew what an infection was. It tasted very metallic and sour. I was originally excited to try it. At that time I was drinking a lot of left hand milk stout and loved it. I was hoping for the same with duck rabbit. I didn't know what an infection was then. After a bunch of googling, I decided it was probably infected. Later that summer I went to a beer festival and tried it again. It was great. It definitely confirmed the infection. Presuming the other bottle of anarchy I have is infected as well, then they are 3 for 3 with me.

It seems to me this must be an issue with bottling. Poor sanitation of bottling equipment or the bottles themselves. I just can't imagine that they didn't taste each individual barrel prior to blending. if it came from an older barrel, then they would have caught it before blending it if they tasted the products before mixing.

Didn't buy 6's. Bought 1-2 a pop from about three different stores whenever I happened to see it.

You'd think an infected barrel would be pretty easy to spot. As someone else mentioned, I find it hard to believe they didn't taste each barrel prior to blending. To me, this sounds like a packaging issue. I don't think their beers are leaving the barrels/fermentors infected. I think they're picking up bacteria during packaging, which explains why their issues have been spread across multiple beers.

These posts are exactly why I won't buy any Duck Rabbit products, no matter what.

I had one back in December with no infection. I think it was the day it showed up at Bestway so it should have been freshly bottled. While duck-rabbit beers are hit or miss for me, I have never had any quality issues with them.
