Yeah when you mentioned that before I was also curious. I raised this question months ago (or a month or two ago, can't remember), and was told that for sure, there would be bottle shares. I understand that FFF can't control this if the cops say know, but I know a lot of people will be hesitant to show up if there aren't bottle shares (especially Gen. Ad. people who aren't there to listen to the music).

1/2 my usual crew dropped out at the $40 price point and the rest of us our out if there's a question of no bottle sharing. The beer itself just isn't worth it at this price if the gathering is going to be less fun. More for ya'll!

THERE IS ALWAYS BOTTLE SHARING. Outside of grabbing bottles, that's the point of the ENTIRE day.

I'm wondering if there will be some bigger name bands at 40 dollars per ticket. Otherwise, it's hard to say that this is worth it with having to pay cash for everything once inside.

Well that sucks for anyone that doesn't like metal, also known as the majority of the population.

Last year is a bit hazy, I remember security stopping people from bringing in bottles at some point in the afternoon. Were there cops inside as well? Also were they making people stop drinking outside?

The state police were the ones who ordered security to stop allowing bottles in. I think it was around 3-4pm or so.

There wasn't really any line to speak of at that point, so no outside line drinking really, I'm not sure about the people who setup tables/tents outside the gates.

It also could have had something to do with the intoxication levels of said people. By that time a lot of people had been there for approaching ten hours. The last time I left the grounds to go to the car I was at least given a warning that they were going to stop letting people enter with bottles that weren't purchased on the grounds.

I left to go do a trade in the parking lot mid to late afternoon, when I walked out there were still 3-4 tents set up with a few dozen people and hundreds of bottles on he tables, when I tried to re-enter a half hour later, the even staff searched my backpack, said I couldn't bring beer in. There was one state cop there, I asked him for an explanation, he wouldn't give me straight answer other than it violated state law, said I couldn't even re enter with the dark lord I bought inside. Had to bring my backpack back to my friends car, and noticed then that the bottle share shat were there all day were now deserted.

However, my friends had a tailgate set up in one of the lots that was going all day, and past dark, they were never asked to pack it up.

Yes I am sure that was the main reason. The police were witnessing clearly wasted people leaving the fest and walking back to their cars, they didn't want people going anymore overboard than they already were.

Sounds like poorly thought out police logic, that you really cant question. How would that have changed anything? There were over 100 taps flowing with high abv beer. Make someone take a few bottles back to their car and then let them in to drink more draft beer. They would also need to either not allow you to bring money in or shut off the taps.

From what was reported, it was state-level police prohibiting bottles from entering the grounds. Probably because bringing outside alcohol into licensed premises is illegal in Indiana, per lots of state statutes.

Note that none of these would apply to people on the lawns/parking lots of the various other businesses in the industrial park, as those are technically private venues without liquor permits, so the below laws wouldn't apply.

    IC 7.1-5-8-4
Taking alcoholic beverage on licensed premises and serving setups prohibited
Sec. 4. (a) It is a Class B misdemeanor for a person who owns or operates a private or public restaurant or place of public or private entertainment to knowingly or intentionally permit another person to come into the establishment with an alcoholic beverage for sale or gift, or for consumption in the establishment by that person or another, or to serve a setup to a person who comes into the establishment. However, the provisions of this section do not apply
    to the following:
(b)[snip; exceptions for private rooms at clubs/hotels, the Indy 500, and some Ravinia-like setup]

    IC 7.1-5-8-5
Taking alcoholic beverage on licensed premises; exceptions
Sec. 5. (a) [summary]Exception for homebrew in personal use or in tasting/judging
(b)(c)[snip; exceptions for private rooms at clubs/hotels, the Indy 500, and some Ravinia-like setup]
    (d) It is a Class C misdemeanor for a person, for the person's own use, to knowingly carry on, convey to, or consume on or about the licensed premises of a permittee an alcoholic beverage that was not then and there purchased from that permittee.

    IC 7.1-5-8-6
Taking liquor into restaurants prohibited; exception
Sec. 6. (a) It is a Class C misdemeanor for a person to knowingly carry liquor into a restaurant or place of public entertainment for the purpose of consuming it, displaying it, or selling, furnishing, or giving it away to another person on the premises, or for the purpose of having it served to himself or another person, then and there. It is a Class C misdemeanor to knowingly consume liquor brought into a public establishment in violation of this section.
    (b) [snip; exceptions for private rooms at clubs/hotels, the Indy 500, and some Ravinia-like setup]

I'm curious to see how the construction of the expansion next door to the existing brewery/brewpub will affect the fest. That's a lot of space that they won't be able to use unless the building is finished in 2 months.

Keep your voice down with that positive attitude and excitement! Can we please get some more bitching and arguing semantics? This is a DLD thread, people.

All I know is the lack of space is going to push more people to the center of the event and we'll be lucky if we each had a plot of land to occupy before getting bounced around and jostled as the lines merge together with one another for beer and merchandise given that the pub will most definitely be closed to the general public. Couple that with the lack of being able to bring bottles in this year and you're ultimately paying $40 for the right to listen to terrible metal bands, eat mediocre food, wait in line for $5 of whatever is on tap when you get to the front of the line, and the right to buy what will most surely be $20 a bottle for Dark Lord.

    (That should do it pmoney).
