Bell's Planet Series

Saturn for me... if it's even close to tasting like a BBA Third Coast Old Ale, then I want that!

I just saw a local TV news story that Bell's is recalling some bottles of the mercury beer because of a glass defect on the lip of the bottle. The website release states that the affected beers were distributed only in 44 counties in Michigan. The fourth beer of this Planet series from Bell's hit my local store today (Battle Creek). This one is called 'Jupiter' which is a Brown Ale. It was $12.99 for a 6-pack. Haven't tried one yet, but the 6-pack is chilling.

 

Thanks for the heads up. Not on at the Cafe yet, oddly. I passed through Kzoo on release day and they had it then if memory serves.

Mega Bev in BC, but I also saw it at Horrock's. When Mercury was released, it seems like we got it a day before everyone did in Kzoo, including the general store, so this may be a repeat of that timing.

It's a fine drinking brown ale. I think I'll even say it's the best I've ever had. I didn't wait until one was fully chilled before drinking it, and at cellar temp, it was full flavor. Well done Bell's.

 

@Mothergoose03 Wow! That's good news, I was beginning to worry after the last 2 releases. Browns are one of my favorite and least appreciated styles. Thanks for the heads up

 

they had it at tiffany's in kalamazoo yesterday but drake party center and the general store both expect to see it friday

 

Picked up a 6-pack of Jupiter last night in Davison, MI. Looking forward to having one tonight after I put the little guy to bed.

Just got a six in Ann Arbor at Plum Market.

 

Was two bottle limit at the Wine Seller in Ann Arbor today.

 

Nearby meijer in Lansing had 6 packs of jupiter on the shelf. They were 10.19. Couldn't tell if this was one people were trying to to snag and if I needed to pick any up. I have been buying too much beer lately so I passed.

 

Late to the party, but just got some Mercury recently. Made me wish I had tried Mars and Venus. Any chance someone would have a single of either - would love to try and taste all of these if possible. I could entertain a bigger trade too.

 

People will tell you that Venus sucked and Mars is well past it's prime. I would disagree on both counts, as I thought Mars was strong enough that it should do some interesting things with 6+ months on it, and I thought Venus was decent, but most people on here seemed to loathe it.

Good luck, and let us know how that Mars is aging if you get some. I thought it was incredible back in August - one of the more unique DIPAs I've ever had.

 

Any word on Ohio Jupiter distro yet?

 

I hated Venus fresh but just had one yesterday and it is tasting pretty good. Interested in what it will taste like in another 6 months, ISO: 2-3 bottles.
