Hi all, is the collaboration between Fantome and Jester King, Del Rey, a sought after beer. The ratings are so low but these two breweries are highly acclaimed?
    Cheers.

It wasn't available in Texas. Wasn't there a website that was selling it?

just because they are highly acclaimed doesn't mean they are incapable of making a bad beer.

every once in a while something is a miss when you experiment like they do.

Sought after, as in trade value? Maybe, really really depends on the individual. One-off Fantome's are usually a niche market. There are plenty of folks that seriously dig everything Dany makes, others might not care at all. Usually the hardcore saison geek has already ordered one from Etre, so there's that.

Fantome isn't distributed anywhere in Texas, and there are plenty of local Jester King geeks who might like to have a bottle, assuming they have not already gotten one.

I absolutely loved this beer, but apparently I was in the minority. I like the majority of Fantome beers, so maybe thats why.

@bcoyle This beer was sought after in Texas but because of our antiquated laws we didn't get it here. This was a curious brew whose ratings shouldn't discourage you from seeking it out. If I land another bottle of this collab I'll send it to you and you can judge for yourself. Pay no attention to my avatar. Here or anywhere else.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually have two of them. I wanted to see what others thought as well. I usually don't let ratings sway my decision in what beers to drink. I love Fantome and love Jester King. I will probably bring one to a share and age the other for a bit. @jesterkingbeer any idea on proper cellaring shelf life on this beer?

Bad beer? Maybe the brain's not telling the tastebuds what to look for? Secret ingredients yes, but truffles....TRUFFLES don't do it for everyone

I too wonder how long this will cellar. I have mine at 45 degrees

I agree, I love truffels, so I am excited for this beer. Especially aged.

I have a friend that is super open minded. He loved it. For me, it was an experience. He finished the bottle with two glasses before I finished my first.

I had a Fantôme Saison from 1997 a few weeks that was just about perfect, so I'd say time is on your side. We had this beer about a week after it's initial release, which was about 1.5 months after we brewed it. I've been opening a bottle per month since June and it has transitioned quite a bit since. It will definitely continue to do so. It's always a gamble when you play the 'Tome game, but I personally prefer Fantômes which are 10+ years old.

Both Fantome and Jester King bottles age very very well, some of the best.

I agree with this. I would like something to compare the aged to one though. That is why I usually get two of everything anyways!

There's about a case on a shelf in FL. Maybe I'll have to buy a few, my JK supply is shrinking... tome supply growing
