So I'm heading out to LA in late March for work. I'll have a couple days to get around. Initially was planning on making a run to The Bruery for a couple of pours. I'll have 2.5 days free, and will probably rent a car. Might stay one night around Hollywoodish area, possibly one closer to Anaheim (Mostly to be close to Bruery).

Any recommendations for stops for a few good brews, and hopefully a spot to shop and bring some good stuff back? Haven't decided how yet, but I might just "check" a box.

I'm planning on kicking around the Hollywood area, just because, and make a stop at the Bruery tap room if that's a good idea. Any good thoughts/stops otherwise? Brews and food! The free time will likely be solo, so the world is my playground.

    Thanks in advance!

while in Hollywood you should make a trip out to Silver Lake/Echo Park (just take Sunset East) and hit Mohawk Bend for lunch. Decent food at 30+ taps, maybe even 40+. Then continue on about a half mile down the road to Sunset Beer Company. Has the best selection of harder to find bottles in the area. Blue Palms is actually in Hollywood too, and has a good tap list, but the food isn't anything to write home about. Surly Goat is a good bar in West Hollywood if that is something you want to explore.

Ok maybe a redo here. Nothing is booked for my free nights yet. My initial thought, grab a room one night in Fullerton (close enough for a cab to Bruery), and spend one night closer to Hollywood area. Decent idea? Never been to the greater LA area, so want to see what I can in a limited time, with realistic expectations.

If so, where would you go in the area (keeping in mind I'll try to do a tourist run to Hollywood and Sunset strip area, and possibly a coast/beach stop)? I don't want to make this ONLY beer focused, but beer will be on the mind .

Don't get a hotel in Hollywood, they are overpriced. You can get something in Studio City or around there for better price and it isn't that hard to get from one to the other.

I live in Hollywood. The touristy stuff isn't that time consuming. Blue Palms is right on the edge of the walk of fame. If you are doing that. Park at Hollywood/Highland. See the Chinese and the Kodak while you are there. Then walk east on the south side of the street. You will come to the Fonda theater. That is where Blue Palms is. Stop, have a few drinks, and leave. Turn around and head back west on the north side of the street and you hit basically 95% of the walk of fame, and 99% of the important stars. With the stopping and getting a drink that probably takes 2 hours. Plenty of good angles to take pictures of the Hollywood sign, it takes to long to hike those trails to get better for how long you are going to be around.

Hollywood is somewhat far from the coast. It is going to take you at least an hour to get there and an hour to get back. I would avoid it with limited time.

Sunset Strip they are doing a lot of construction, tearing down all the places you are probably interested in and making it a bunch of luxury hotels. I would skip it, because it is a mess.

Best bottle shop really is Sunset Beer Co in the area. Takes me about 10 minutes to get to.

Awesome! Thank you! This makes planning that day much easier.

I should have Wednesday and Thursday free, leave mid afternoon Friday. Maybe Wednesday around Anaheim (again for Bruery mostly!) And spend Thursday/Friday around the Hollywood/Long Beach/Santa Monica part of town? Would love some lunch and dinner recommendations for both Anaheim and Hwood area from anyone. If course I'll make an In & Out run!

Go to Thai Town and have some khao soi and fermented pork ribs at Pailin.
