This. It's not like we share a ton of distro with Ohio since we are on the Philly side of the state.

Good start to the day -- went to leave for work, car won't start. Had to call off. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with my day until my dad gets home from work and can take a look at it, because I'm car-dumb :slight_frown:

How old/new is your battery? I'd be willing to bet that's it. They don't like it when it's cold.

I'll go with 1069 thanks for the chance! @Dave_Treat

Also due to 0 degree weather I've been doing IP trades. Am I the only person who gets annoyed when someone tries to uptrade something you traded them?

I don't remember perfectly off the top of my head, but I want to say it's at least two years old. I've had the battery die on me before and it hasn't quite done what it's doing now (the engine makes a whirring type of sound but doesn't actually start, not really a chugging kinda noise either which I've experienced before). I've thought that it might be the battery as once or twice over the last two weeks the dashboard has been kinda dim immediately upon starting the car but then got to normal brightness, but like I said... that was once or twice as opposed to every time haha

I've actually not run into this as I've not traded much, and I just thought about it a bit. On the one hand, I'd be a little upset/annoyed, but on the other hand, I can see an argument for it. If I helped you get a beer you want for a beer I might not want as bad as something else (and especially if I'm giving you a beer I have multiples of/easier access to), I'd be willing to trade for something I have no intention of keeping to help someone else get something they might be looking for.

Oh god did that even make sense

Edit I've actually thought about "regifting" a few things I've gotten in this BIF/from LIFs just because I don't know when I'll get around to drinking them (I only drink 2-3 drinks tops in a normal night, and that is only a couple nights a week to boot), and they'd be better a little fresher. Have not yet done that though. Is this generally frowned upon? Don't want to step on the toes of anyone who has sent me boxes

I see your point. To me it's just so much effort to go through that. This guy really wanted a growler of FBD b/c he missed the release and loved that beer, now is just cashing in on the hype and uptrading it.

Sometimes if I get multiples in box I give one to one of my best friends who got me into beer, usually most of the boxes I get in I share w my bf or friends.

My personal take is that once they have their beer, they're free to do whatever they'd like with it. That said, everyone has slightly different intentions in the trading game and I wouldn't expect everyone to share the same philosophy as myself.

Some people treat their beers like pokemon cards, others like tasty treats.

I will be up in GR for work so I will be in a hotel. Besides I do not know what Keith has planned for you but he mentioned leather and gerbils were involved?? That being said it looks quite likely we will be drinking beer somewhere Thursday.

If you trade me FBD I will drink it just to throw that out there

That being said I quite often try to trade for wants for BIF targets, trading partners or ninja victims but the rest of what I do trade for I want to drink personally. I don't have much of an issue with someone trying to trade what I traded them but I think your disappointment resides in that your partner was deceitful to a degree? Of course maybe he or she landed two FBD simultaneously and decided to trade one for something else?

Not really, but it depends on the conversation/circumstances of to the trade. If they told me they were excited to try something then trade it away, I might be a little annoyed but mostly confused. If it was a friend that I did a favor for and went out of my way for something, or traded under value/$4$ as a favor to that person, then yes that'd annoy me. If it was a straightforward business transaction, or better yet if they were up front with their intentions to flip the bottle, then no, I'm fine with it.

End of the day though as long as you were happy with what you got in the trade, it's theirs to do with what they please.

edit: your specific situation seems to fall into the category where I would be irked; he pursued a trade and stated it was for his consumption and then is trying to capitalize on hype, to me is a bit shady. Certainly nothing that warrants a downgrade in feedback left, but it might affect if I wanted to trade with that person again in the future.

I guess the only way it would annoy me is if I felt I had been overly generous as a favor, and that the other person had planned this all along and was taking advantage. I don't trade all that often, but I HAVE BIF'd beers I traded for; in those cases my trade partner knew that was why I wanted the beer in the first place. And in this round, I can hit very few of my target's wants, but I happen to have have multiple bottles (via BIF's and LIF's) of one of his wants and may pass one along..

    nope, not a bit

So @Kylo76 sent me a box clearly marked Desert Olive Oils and Vinegars. It's getting close to lunch so I threw a couple slices of sourdough in the oven to warm them up a bit and got to opening the box. Immediately I was disappointed because there was no Olive Oil or Vinegar in the box. Only 3 delicious beers and 2 of them wants no less.

I wonder if this means you are circle jerking me..
    Grapefruit Sculpin always delcious
La Cumbre Elevated and Project Dank wants x2 won't last long.

    Cheers!

I have not uptraded something persay, but I like Drew, I have traded for things to give to BIF targets or to friends for presents. I can see some frustation to it, but also agree with @mklisz that once the trade is done it is really theirs to do whatever.

    Then this happened.......

Someone in this thread is in trouble and return fire is imminent. I reached out to @Dave_Treat and asked if he had access to a bottle of 3 Brothers Smooth Sailor and if so what could we work out for it. I am quite a fan of the Resolute and a BA Vanilla Porter doesn't sound like it could possibly be bad. He ignored my request let the conversation sit idle then responds mentioning he has something for me. I knew what he was up to and already planned to return fire when we met in person. However our schedules didn't work out last week so he decides to ignore my request for 1 bottle and sent 9!!!
Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout familiar brew never bad
3 brothers Drift (enjoyed this one previously) Slide new to me excited to tick another 3 Bros brew
3 Brothers BA Barleywine !!! should have been a want
3 Brothers Smooth Sailor x2??? So generous
DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus very familiar brew never disappoints
Terrapin Wake n Bake just drank one last night I really like this coffee stout every year
Hardywood the Great Return This is a solid Dipa from a great brewery.

Dave you killed it and I am really not sure why. The only reason I can think is that you do not like drinking beer. Awesome man you have return fire coming I can promise you that. Also I look forward to sharing a beer with you in person in the near future. Cheers buddy!
