Hey gang, I know we are still several weeks away from March Madness, but I have a non-bracket related BIF that I am looking to run and thought that I would give this group dibs on joining. If we don’t get enough entrants from here, I will open it up to the gen. pop.

The Final Pour
This will be limited to 14 BAs. A team from each region (East, South, Midwest, and West) will be drawn for each BA. Teams that are seeded 15 and 16 will not be part of the draw. You will then receive points for each round that your team(s) wins a game. The BA with the most points wins. Simple enough?

Here’s the kicker…you get a multiplier on your points based on the team’s seeding. Let me explain: The rounds will be scored as follows:

Play-in games - not scored
Round 1 – 2 points
Round 2 – 4 points
Round 3 – 8 points (Sweet Sixteen)
Round 4 – 16 points (Elite 8)
Round 5 – 32 points (Final Four)
Round 6 – 64 points (Championship)

Let’s say that you had Dayton last year, which lost in Round 4 as an 11 seed, you would have received 154 points ((11*2)+(11*4)+(11*8)) which is more than the possible points that a #1 seed gets if they win the championship (126 points). So although it’s great to have a 1 seed, this BIF awards having a Cinderella team that makes some noise in the tournament.

The winner will get 8 boxes and second place will get 4 boxes (neither will ship boxes). Each box will have a minimum of 64oz of 85+ rated beer. Tie breaker #1 will be the most points in Round 1. If any other tie breakers are required, we will go to the most points in Round 2 and so on.

My thoughts are that I would use a draft order generator to randomly select the group of 4 seeds first and then use a draft order generator to assign a BA to the group of 4 seeds. Ideally, I would do this before we even know which team is what seed to add more excitement to Selection Sunday.

Ok I was struggling with the 150 oz MAX, Im glad @Dave_Treat broke the ceiling 1st, now I don't feel bad filling up my box even more. With the weather, I plan on shipping my box next week, wanted to ship to this week, but weather prevented my peanut brittle run on saturday.

Also going to get @Syracuse12 his LIF box next week as well, as it is suppose to snow tomorrow, way too cold the past couple days + snow all over the forecast, I know its a short hop up the parkway, but I don't trust these beers and cold conditions.

 

Intent and clear expectations make all the difference.

Hint: Shipping east. My target has obviously no clue I am shipping to them. Of course, since I have not posted much lately, why would they. Your box is coming along nicely and I hope to ship in a couple of weeks

 

No rush at all. I myself am delinquent on shipping as well due to the weather. I owe the Sixterhood, @Devman171 a LIF box, and a trade with @kgncfl I hope to ship all on Monday.
