Huh? Timothy Taylor isn't Brewdog. Brewdog is marketed as being trendy and hipster-ish so people trying to be trendy and hipster-ish buy it. They wouldn't go near Timothy Taylor with a barge pole because Timothy Taylor is reasonably priced and the brewers don't pretend to be cool and unique. I honestly don't see how you can compare the two.

I think Darwin is implying that the average beer drinker is averse to drinking anything they perceive as out of the ordinary whether it be BrewDog, Timothy Taylor or whatever. And in places like Austalia or Canada 'ale' still has a reputation for being old manish and dull.
I do however agree that in BrewDog's home market it definitely targets the young and trendy because, let's face it, James Watt and Martin Dickie are themselves rather young and trendy. It doesn't worry me because demand for cask ale is steadily constant to improving and if all the trendoids finally discovered its genius then the good pubs would be chalk -a- block with bony arse crack showing manboys sporting 'hot combover' hair drinking the best real ale. The image sends shivers down my spine.

I am not comparing the two. I am just simply using Timothy Taylor as an example of an ale that the 'peroni' or the young and trendy drinkers, as some call them, wouldn't touch with a three feet pole. I could have easily substituted Thornbridge or even Brewdog, dare I say it to prove my point.

But I am only speaking about situations where brewdog and peroni offerings are equally available at the one establishment as I agree with some of the others on here if we are just talking about brewdog pubs than they would attract the young peroni drinkers not for the actual beer but just to be seen in what they or their friends regard to be a fancy and decorated drinking hole.

Not even that. More breweries including one which is trying to appeal to the hip craft beer people.

I havent been hip since the nineties and I was with the grunge scene that was about the music not the media interpretation of the clothing styles that only ever existed on MTV but I do know this though I do know this much though other brewers may try to grab a slice of the yoof beer scene and may even try to broaden their tastes but no-one in the UK has such wife walking out prices and brewdog will continue to be world leaders in the field of BS
