Like the title says, I'm looking to make a collection of stouts/porters brewed with tea. The smoother the better. The closer to an earl grey the more beneficial to my research. Anything helps me out. Thanks!

Earl grey is a somewhat tropical flavored tea. It's flavored with the Bergamot orange. I can't imagine that flavor going well with the malty/roasty backbone of a stout or porter. Maybe I'm wrong..... it's happened before.

BFM's Cuvee Alex Le Rouge, but I think it is made with black tea. I've never had it but I was eyeing it in the store a bit ago.

I had a bottle of this last summer. It was "Batch 2009," but I'm not sure what that means. Was it brewed in 2009? Anyway, from what I remember, I thought it was delicious and incredibly smooth. It's an imperial stout with black tea, and Earl Grey is black tea with bergamot, I think, so that's close.

What kind of "research" is this? I'm going to be disappointed if it doesn't involve enjoying them.

lapsang souchong. its sort of a unique tea, sometime people call it smoked tea. I think it lends it self nicely to a porter or stout. Actually wanted to try brewing it myself haha

Rogue made a barrel-aged porter with lapsang souchong tea in their Big Ass Barrel series of beers last year. Definitely one of the better Rogue beers I'd had in a long time. Can't remember if they ever bottled it.

Not a stout or porter exactly, but Flying Dog is releasing an "Earl Grey Black Wheat" beer as their next Brewhouse Rarity.

Wish I was a bigger fan of tea. I've never really liked the taste. Even the Stone Green Tea IPA was a job for me to finish.

I disliked this beer a lot. Not very stout like and had a peppery finish.
