Good to be back in the ol' US of A; jetlag's got the best of me at the moment, so figured I'd post the highlight of my first day back so far:

Nothing right now. But I for one will be raising a glass in memory of kingofhop. He apparently passed from a heart attack yesterday. His daughter Hannah informed us late last night via yesterday's thread. This saddens me to no end. Had many a fun exchange with him on this forum. He will be sorely missed. Hannah's post is towards the tailend of the previous WBAYDN thread.

Good morning BAs! Starting the day with this:



I must say, I found this to be somewhat disappointing. It began with a slight aroma of rotting fruit which, fortunately, quickly faded leaving no discernible aroma. I didn't pick up any vanillin or tannin from the oak barrels although I must admit that I'm not very familiar with French oak as opposed to US varieties so perhaps the flavors are too subtle for me to recognize. After sitting at room temp for 40 minutes a faint (non-rotting) fruit odor was detected.

Dunno. As a rule I enjoy Unibroue products but I won't be buying any more of this one.

 

Wow. Sorry to read this Hannah. He will be missed. I'll have to find some Millers to toast his life.

 

It's 5 o'clock somewhere. A long day ahead of me so I'll have a Bells Expedition Stout Then I'll hit some Tim Hortons coffee thru out the day.

 

Had surgery on my wrist after shattering it at work on Monday.Enjoying this as a painkiller.

 

The perfect brunch beer to celebrate another snow day.

Man, I loved seeing posts from him. Authentic old-school, right to the end. Will absolutely find a Miller or two to drink in his memory.
