Well I guess the "inevitable" happened. All this time I thought there were just a bunch of naysayers jumping on the bickering bandwagon. Thinking too hard and looking for signs to knock this beer down. But finally, this has happened to me!

Last can of my 02/06/15 4 pack I'd purchased approximately 2 weeks ago was flat. Poured half a can into my favorite pint glass and might have had a dusting of head. Took a couple sips and it was clearly flat and rather unpleasant to drink (very alcohol heavy tasting). Not a trace of lacing on the glass. Drank half a glass and poured the remainder hard into the glass. Again, a small trace of head and no lacing to be seen after a couple sips. Total bummer.

Again, I'd thought people were being too critical towards this. I've had quite a few 4 packs (5-6) without an issue to report. But I guess my 1.000 run finally caught up to me. Too bad I just picked up 4x 4 packs on Monday. Figured I'd stock up a little bit since it was mentioned they've completed the canning of Abrasive for the season. A bit worried now that I ran into a bad can. But 1 out of 20/24 isn't too bad.

So through this whole thread, we have heard from lots of people with Abrasive issues and I can only recall the one person cro FL who actually received compensation (swag) from Surly. Has anyone else gotten refunds at a store or gotten any compensation from Surly?

Just seems weird that we aren't hearing any stories of refunds, etc. out of all of the complaints on here.

Too bad they couldn't have worked out all of the canning line kinks with Hell instead.

Please e mail Surly about the Feb 6 batch. Because apparently, I am the only person in their disrubtion range that has complained about the Feb 6 batch. And although they were really nice, they didn't really take my word for it. They wanted me to meet with one of their people and test it out with him.

My second can from 2-6-15 was undercarbed. It wasn't completely flat, but it was nowhere near the first can. :slight_frown:

Im telling everyone to contact Surly based on the Feb 6 batch. As of now, i am the only one that has complained to them about this issue. Before that they thought the batch was fine and I think they still do.

I saw a few people mentioning it last page, but is 2-6-15 the last canning of Abrasive?

Yes - returned to stores for refund (twice).
Yes - Surly sent me an apology, 2 glasses, and a $20 gift card.

I had 3 cans total this year, and only one was even remotely close to decent.
I've decided not to play any more Abrasive roulette this year.

Too many other options out there.

That's what I heard. They were supposed to go until March, but they are pulling the plug early this year. Not sure if that IS 100 percent accurate, but that's what I heard.

Was anyone else amused to read in Surly's newsletter yesterday that Todd built the Italian canning line without using directions? I'm not presuming its the source of any issues, but one has to wonder! Pretty dejecting to hear that the 2/6 cans are still hit or miss.

Also, please post if you do indeed find Abrasive canned after Feb 6. Its already 3 weeks old - barleywine at this point (lols).

5 cans out of a case for me...filled out the form on their webapage and told them about it. They never acknowledged me at all.

Just an apology and "I wish you would have told us sooner, we would have swapped the cans." I guess I screwed myself by finishing my cans, thinking it was going to be less of an issue (bigger percentage of flat/nearly flat cans than expected).

When were they canned on? Also, someone from Surly got back to me but it wasn't via the quality email. I can tell you what happened and what email to contact them if you shoot me a message/conversation on here.

That's not the case for everyone. Although they were nice, they seem to think there is no problem with the Feb 6, 2105 canning date batch and didn't take my word for it. And I can assure you, they are under carbonated.
