Recap of what the heck is going on:

A team from each region (East, South, Midwest, and West) will be drawn for each BA. Teams that are seeded 15 and 16 will not be part of the draw. You will then receive points for each round that your team(s) wins a game. The BA with the most points wins.

Here’s the kicker…you get a multiplier on your points based on the team’s seeding. Let me explain: The rounds will be scored as follows:

Play-in games - not scored
Round 1 – 2 points
Round 2 – 4 points
Round 3 – 8 points (Sweet Sixteen)
Round 4 – 16 points (Elite 8)
Round 5 – 32 points (Final Four)
Round 6 – 64 points (Championship)

Let’s say that you had Dayton last year, which lost in Round 4 as an 11 seed, you would have received 154 points (11*2)+(11*4)+(11*8) which is more than the possible points that a #1 seed gets if they win the championship (126 points). So although it’s great to have a 1 seed, this BIF awards having a Cinderella team that makes some noise in the tournament.

The winner will get 8 boxes and second place will get 4 boxes (neither will ship boxes). Each box will have a minimum of 64oz of 85+ rated beer. Tie breaker #1 will be the most points in Round 1. If any other tie breakers are required, we will go to the most points in Round 2 and so on.

My thoughts are that I would use a draft order generator to randomly select the group of 4 seeds first and then use a draft order generator to assign a BA to the group of 4 seeds. Ideally, I would do this before we even know which team is what seed to add more excitement to Selection Sunday.
