Explaining to others why we spend so much on beer

I do something like that except I say "You don't drink good beer cuz your family's poor Kenny."

 

1. Quality over quantity
2. I hardly drink
3. The bottles look so much better
4. Because right now, I got it like that
5. Don't look back

 

You can drink any beer, but some beers are meant to be enjoyed. Craft is simply about having a passion to learn, understand, and appreciate beer in a way that goes beyond simply consuming. It's not for everyone, but everyone can learn something from it if they give it a chance. And who knows-- maybe you'll like to it. You'll never know though if you don't try something different and dare to wander where you haven't been before.

 

It's like a fine car. If you can't afford it, don't drive it. You'll hate yourself the next day.

The only one I ever had to give an explanation to me was my wife

 

Why the hell would I have to explain why I spend my money on anything? It's my money. Plus, my wife (who might be the only one to ask such a question with good reason) drinks the same beer. So the real question is...why WOULDN'T I spend so much on great beer?

 

my cellar is worth more than a couple of my cars... maybe even more than two of them combined.

Fortunately as a single guy I don't have to deal with people asking me to justify how I spend my money.

I like to compare these kinds of things to cars.

"Listen dude, would you rather have 30 Toyota Camrys or 4 Aston Martins?"

 

I wouldn't call it a comeback but when people bring it up or say that I drink too much, I bring up something that they spend a lot of time and money on. Video games, pointless technology, etc. I drink beer because tasting new beers is my hobby, not a habit. You have your hobbies that I think are stupid, I have mine that you think are stupid.

 

It's not really about the beer, it's how I choose to live my life. How do you live yours?

OK, not really--but that's the answer I've WANTED to give on more than one occasion.

 

my explanation is roughly the same as captain hammer explaining to dr. horrible about why penny is with hammer and not horrible.

 

I tell them: "I can't help it...It's a sickness & I need help...OH PLEASE, HELP SAVE ME FROM MYSELF"!!!!
