Me and the family are coming down for the week soon and was just hoping I could get a heads up on a decent bottle shop in the area. Doesn't have to be mindblowing, just a store with an above average selection. Not doing much, just want to relax for the week with some decent beer.

More specifically Indian Rocks Beach, thanks in advance.

Check this thread. I always suggest that if folks are flying into TIA that they go ahead and stop at Cigar City (since it's essentially right there), hit the Total Wine around the corner and then head on toward the beach. There also are Total Wine stores in Clearwater and north of Tyrone Square. You'd have to come back over to the mainland but, from where you'll be, you'll not be terribly far from Barley Mow Brewing, Willard's Tap House, Rapp Brewing and Cajun Cafe. I'm not sure what bottle shops are along the strand; I know many Publix stores (our grocery chain) carry the core four from Cigar City and sometimes also some from Tampa Bay Brewing, 3 Daughters and Big Storm. Hope you have a great trip!

Eat at the Cajun Cafe. Solid food and FL taplist. Also LGI!

Wow @MHorridge That's a big help. Very appreciated.

I'm gonna have the wife and kids in tow so Cigar City really isn't an option for me but there are a lot of option around where I'm staying. I haven't been down there in 5 years but I'm vaguely familiar with the area plus I have some family down there. That map is a huge help, no doubt.

You've piqued my curiosity: What's LGI?

If you are in Indian Rocks Beach, go up Walsingham, it'll turn into Ulmerton, make a left on 113th. On the left hand side there is a small convenience store looking building named Beer World of Largo. They have a great selection of bottles but are overpriced. Also, Slyce Pizza is a good place to eat and they have a good tap list.

You're welcome. Credit for assembling the "What to visit" thread goes to @BKnarr. I don't wanna pick off the scab that became the "Kids in FL Taprooms" thread but I will say emphatically that if you wanna get a family day off the beach that includes Daddy getting a flight or a pint: Both Green Bench Brewing and 3 Daughters are most definitely family-friendly, especially during daylight hours.

Yeah. Thanks to that map I was eyeballing the place in Largo and that Cajun place is pretty close too. I just talked to my dad and he says WoB is only 4 miles away too, and everyone that visits them loves it.

Yes, LGI is Let's Go Islanders. You guys rock, thanks again.

My parents have emphatically told us if we want to get away they'll watch the kids. Haha, definitely leaving them behind if we go out.

The world's your oyster then, my friend! World of Beer is a solid chain. You may get more local flavor (if you wanna find it) -- and some really nice bottle shares -- at Willard's. Cajun Cafe is great; in addition to good food and great tap list, owner Paul is one of this area's great, great beer advocates.

It's not a WoB but rather a Total Wine. Don't know why I was thinking that. Again, thank you so much for the help. Cajun Cafe is looking like a possible "date" night location.

Y'all could, on your "date night," make a loop: go to Cajun Cafe and then Rapp Brewing and then Willard's and then back to the beach. Sounds like a lotta beer but y'all could split a flight at Rapp.

Happy to be The Visitors' Enabler!

Leukens in Dunedin is a good stop and there are two breweries near by to hit.

One last question, and I swear I'm out of your collective hair....how common is Fat Head's, Terrapin, Boulevard and New Belgium in the area? Also, if this New Yorker needs a suggestion or 2 on breweries that don't distribute up here or beers only exclusive to Florida, I'm all ears.

Thanks guys, again. We are definitely doing Cajun Cafe by the way.

At the right bottle shop with good selection, all 3 of these typically sit on the shelves at all times. (with maybe the exception of Fat Heads but I've been seeing more of that). Hit Leukens for sure, should give you all the locals you're looking for and some rarities can be found in the store with a good search.

As far as exclusive Florida stuff...If you can get to Cycle in downtown St.Pete they don't distribute at all yet and have some world-class IPAs (IMO) you can get some crowlers of. Coppertail is another local brewery with some great stuff you can find at Luekens or Total Wine.

I can't speak to the others, but check out the Boulevard beer finder:

    http://www.boulevard.com/beers/beer-finder/

Please note that it doesn't reflect real time inventory, but rather is based on ordering history. For that reason, we suggest calling ahead before you drive over.

You know that you can get Boulevard on Long Island now, right? (Unless u were looking for something they haven't distributed to here yet.). Don't want you to lug a bunch of beer home for nothing. Tank 7, Long Strange Tripel, The Calling, and others hit last week.
