I don't live in the area, but have been to the brewery and also made some trades for Trillium. Love these threads, thanks for doing this and providing updates!

Is Trillium doing anything special the weekend of EBF. Planning my trip, and Trillium is definitely on the agenda.

May have missed this elsewhere, but is PM Dawn coming out again soon? Or is this a once-a-year type of brew?

Actually that 2nd batch of PM Dawn has already come and gone. We don't have any un the tank now, but we have the 3rd (and last batch for the winter penciled in to the schedule to be brewed in a couple weeks.

Really? Well I suck. So much for that batch. Came and went quick. Thanks for the correction JC.

Anyone have the Day & Night (or was it Night & Day)? It was the blonde barleywine style w/ coffee.

I had this on Saturday night. Not sure if I would've called it a barleywine, more like an imperial blonde. The coffee, too, was barely there. For me, just so so. Did anyone have a different experience with this beer? A for effort. I did also pick up a Fort Point and an Oatmeal Porter, both of which I really enjoy. Bummer about the BW, though. I was excited for it.

My first baby is due on March 20 - and have a pm dawn to crack to celebrate - maybe something new will be cracked too! We used to bike to Trillium when we lived in Brookline and Cambridge. Ill now have to stop in when we go to the kid's museum. Still remember sharing Boston Strong after the Marathon.

Good thing I have friend's who work in the neighborhood and keep me filled, and I stop in when returning from Logan.

I only had Old Soul so no coffee in it (assuming they are the same beer). Definitely something to drink closer to room temp and I think the coffee was a light roast so it may taste fruitier/delicate.

I guess It's described as a blonde barleywine. I'd be interested to know if this follows the usual process of boiling it down to concentrate the wort since it wasnt that sweet or intensely malty for me.

Night and Day was a blonde barleywine so I agree with you it drank like an imperial blonde rather than an english barleywine. It's missing that intense toffee/caramel flavor. However, once it hit room temp I thought it was great. JC mentioned they used a lighter roast so it would be a balanced coffee flavor.

hmmm, yeah...N&D certainly not an English barleywine. nor what you would normally expect in an american barleywine (not a PacNW C-hop bomb). Very pale in color as the grist is mostly pilsner malt, lightened the body up despite its 10% abv w/ some turbinado sugar, which also adds some rummy notes. Fruity esters from the house ale yeast lead right in to the, raw honeyed flavor from all that pilsner. a little belgian abbey malt for a substantial enough backbone. good bittering charge, but we keep the soft, fullness of this bigger beer at the forefront so its ready to drink fresh...because there's a big dose of lighter roast cold brewed coffee. don't expect a heavy french roast or espresso bomb here, its more delicate than that to be in better alignment with the base beer. drinking this cold right out of the fridge (or after having other big flavor beers beforehand)...palate wouldn't not get the full impression of the nice interplay between the malt, turbinado, hopping, fermentation character and coffee. definitely best at 55F into a big tulip or wine glass to bury your nose in. cheers!
