    About 3 weeks back I did a blind sampling with these seven. Marble ended up winning. Today was a normal, side by side sampling, knowing fully what is being served

    Today it was a "life gets in the way old/older IPA/DIPA sampling"

    Bell's Two Hearted. 1/6/15 bottling
    BP Sculpin 343rd day of 2014 bottling
    Victory Hop Ranch. best by 4/23/15
    Victory DirtWolf Best By 3/10/15
    SN Hop Hunter 1/15/15 bottling date

    Not that old but it proved to be a touch uneventful. IPAs and DIPAS downgrade like nothing I have seen before. I can drink any other style and be okay not looking at dates... Not those two.

    Three beers that stood out

    SN Hop Hunter. A true fresh hop farm smell. Mouthfeel and finish a bit of a downer
    V Hop Ranch- Smell was nothing to second guess. Taste had this candied hop flavor. Maybe more on the malt flavor than anything else... Very nice
    Marble IPA- the winner from the last event.. It had a slightt hint of hop smell. But the taste was almost 100% grapefruit. Something about the new hop bill is making this one a true favorite for me personally..

    I know some don't like certain hops and its not exactly getting crazy exclaim with the new recipe. So Maybe its me that has found the butter zone. Let alone with a local. Not BAD taste buds. Thank you.

    Honorable mention goes to Elevated IPa. I dont normally drink anything past 4 weeks just because its so accessible. Its actually hard to find old stuff.. Aromatics were almost down to nothing. Taste was a bit of a caramel candied sweetness with a touch of real bitterness. It seemed like all of the others lost any bit of bitterness they had. LC carried through with their 100 IBU.

    Bottonline: This is more of a test of what most places have available. I dont know if normal consumers actually know what fresh hopped beer should taste like. Today, I tasted None of that. They were all shells of their former shelves. Some lasting longer than others.

    Not sure what was accomplished today. Fun though

    (none were undrinkable. But the others not mentioned were totally drinkable but very forgettable.)

    For my second beer tonight, I'm throwing down a Troegs Perpetual IPA. My goodness... What a delectable IPA this is. NOT overly bitter but loaded with complex flavors. Perfect citrus finish to a clean and hoppy start. Loving this brewery. Their double Bock is also excellent!

    Picked this up MOSTLY b/c it was aged (primarily) in Four Roses barrels, and I do love Four Roses bourbon. Also, not often you see a brown ale thrown in to barrels to age. It's okay, not worth the 19 i paide...but hey, I tried it:
