Further, considering I've twice traded away king henry on the forum for a mystery box of locals and even given a bcs rare as an extra, please don't try and make me out to be one of these new trade types

So you're telling me that my group trading a $23 beer plus some zombie dust for $30 worth of beer, 2 of which are mass distributed, is crazy? Ok.

if bottle count were the sole determinant of trade value, black note would have gone 1:1 with 1414 + locals to even out cost.

you held out for quite a bit more at the time, wanting bcbvs + king henry + a couple of bottles of bcbs for black note. the question isn't whether it could get done, but whether you were being greedy. i think you were, and chastising people who want a bit more for their effort reeks of blind hypocrisy.

you don't have to be generous but at least be self-aware.

Jeff's a top notch guy, and that's before taking into consideration that I was the recipient of the unsolicited Bourbon County Rare he sent me. Jeff puts together a mean trade and then generally makes ou feel like a jerk once he throws in extras.

I'm not gonna air this out on BA despite your desire to do so. Feel free to value your beers by eBay price or whatever you do to determine "what's fair"

Look just drop it Levi. I'm not gonna air your crap with me publicly and since you wanna take this all on in a public thread instead of a BM, I'm done discussing this.

jesus wept: your posts are riddled with logical fallacies. please stop moving the goalposts by mentioning ebay.

you imply that being mass-distributed makes a beer trivial in trade value compared to your brewery-only gem, black note:

but earlier you blast people who offer heady topper for rare:

heady topper is brewery-only, while rare was mass-distributed. so by your own reasoning, this is a perfectly fair offer.

but wait! it's ok for you to do this, because you were generous once. therefore, it is ok for vermonters to ask a lot for their beers if they did something generous in the past year. you have no room to point fingers at them.

your reasoning skills are bad, and you should feel bad.

Should move this thread over to the Beer Trading/General Hospital forum.

he's been all over facebook all week blasting what people are asking for hill farmstead beers and whatnot. i just got tired of the double standard decided to point it out. i think he's part of the problem too.

No clue. I think everyone tries to max their end. It's more a question of whether you're trying to extract every last penny, which is never gonna result in long term positive and fruitful trading relationships

Hill Farmstead represents some of the best beer I get to enjoy. Fortunately, someone in my Facebook group, of whom Jeff is a part, travels up there frequently, and graciously mules for us at cost plus shipping. We're a bit spoiled regarding access. That said, our friend still lives several hours from HF. There simply aren't a lot of people on BA, or in general, with Lawson's, The Alchemist, or Hill Farmstead in their backyard. It doesn't surprise me that good beer that's tough to come across, trades at a premium...whether it's tough to come across because it's a limited release, brewery only, or available in a place that's tough to access geographically or has few traders that have access. HF is a lot of those things. i'm just grateful for the few hookups I have so it costs us cash and a thank you as opposed to some harder to get beer, which I'm pretty short on these days.
