Alright, finally got around to figuring out the winner of the barleywine tasting! But first

Finally got around to figuring out the winner of the barleywine tasting!

1. How many bottles will there be at the tasting? (Within one bottle gets 3 points, within 3 bottles gets 1 point.) 17 Bottles
2. How many will not be barrel aged? (Must be exact. Worth 2 points.) 3 bottles
3. How many people will be at the tasting? (Exact gets two points, within 2 gets one point.) 8 drunks
4. How long will the tasting last? (Within 15 minutes gets 3 points, within a half hour gets 1 point.) 4 hours ish?
5. What will be the combined alcohol percentage of all the beers? (A 12% bomber plus a 10% 12 oz. bottle equals 22%) ( withing 2% gets 3 points, within 10% gets 1 point) 198.3%
6. At what time will I get out of bed the next day? ( I actually used a days vacation for this tasting since Sunday was the only day that would work for everyone and I know I will be very hungover.) (Within 15 minutes gets 3 points, within a hour gets 1 point.) 11:30 ish
7. How many different kinds of cheeses will I buy for this tasting? I have no idea at this point. (Must be exact. Worth 1 point.) 6 types. I dont remember which kinds.
8. Which bottle will be voted the favorite? (Worth 3 points.) A Deal With The Devil '14



This tasting turned out to be a rough one. ADWTD '14 just barely beat out HF Aaron! Two very different tasting barleywines. ADWTD was so rich, while Aaron was closer to a regular bw, but in the best way! Arctic Devil was awesome. Everyone agreed Sucaba '13 was a let down, but that may have been because it was after ADWTD. Wasnt a fan of BA Bigfoot. BCBBW '13 killed '14. MOAS was of course amazing. We includes Surly 8 even though its technically an "oat wine". It was different.

We also did a barleywine blend of all the beers poured into a pitcher to try at the end. I dont really remember trying this, but I was told it was decent. There was half the pitcher left the next day, but I would have thrown up again if I went anywhere near it, haha.

The 18th bottle (in the center left, white label) is Framrood raspberry lambic from the Funk Factory Guezeria partnered with O'so. They have started to put out some awesome beer and should have plenty more coming. Definitely get some if you have the chance!

Lucky target. That shit is delicious. Most vanilla I've ever had in a beer.

Maybe I should be more specific. I would have puled for a third time. But thats also a result of going to the bars afterwards and shaking for shots.
