You need to taste more beginners' homebrew. Venus wasn't too bad for me, and my wife really liked it. Had it at the Eccentric Cafe on draft.

My wife had 2 pints of Mercury a couple of weeks ago at the Cafe. She enjoyed it and said it reminded her of De Koninck in Belgium.

I think I have had enough at this point in the game to justify the opinion. I certainly have had much worse homebrew; will say that.

I am glad other people liked it. Again though, that seems to be the exception and not the rule.

I could probably guess which one. Or at least make three guesses and nail it.

I was also SHOCKED to say that least at how bad it was. Haven't tried a planet series since then, but just because the styles released aren't my favorite. Mars was awesome, though.

I really have to wonder if there was some production issue. I find it odd that people who clearly know about beer have such wildly varying opinions. I mean, @hopfenunmaltz has been on here for 10 years. Kind of hard to discount someone's opinion with that kind of background.

Everyone says they liked Mars so go figure, they liked a DIPA.

Venus used apricots, which many don't care for, and those can be a little tart. Cardamon is a spice that can be polarizing. Vanilla, well if it was vanillin from a barrel it would have been another story for the raters.

Mercury was accurate for a Belgian Pale Ale, if you ever go to Belgium, you will see many drinking their Palm and De Koninck as daily drinkers. Not a style that makes you go wow, but you can drink several of and not get bored as there are some nice malt flavors and yeast character.

Haven't had the Jupiter yet. Brown ales are not a style I go to usually, but Bell's Best Brown is tasty, and Jupiter is an imperial brown, so I might love the malt.

Jupiter is taking forever to get to Minnesota. I'm starting to think they forgot about us this time...

I had stopped at a Meijer randomly and they had 6ers on the shelf of Jupiter for 10.19. My local store was 1.90 a bottle but limit one.

That far surpasses rip off, holy crap. Should be no more than half that price at the absolute most.

Well, I went in today and their beer guy insisted 5.99 was his cost for a single of Jupiter.
I tried to reason with him with the info I learned here but he insisted, with attitude.
Wine Castle at 7 and Farmington in Livonia is the store. Been going there for many years.

Anyone care to share where they got theirs in SE Mich and at what price?
Send me a beer mail if you don't want to out them here, please. Thanks!

The nino's by partridge creek in macomb was selling them for $1.99. Guessing they are gone now. Red Waggon had them for $2.99. Saw one place for $4.99. Seems to be all over the board.

I've had Mercury, Venus and Mars. Mars was pretty good. The other 2 were just OK.

Starting to lose hope in bells in general... 2 hearted is solid as is expedition but everything else is mostly meh and this planet series is laughable. Hopslam is another one they wont change up even though they're being left in the dust by much better done dipas. They need to get their shit together
