We loved being in Davis Square, but we have outgrown the Dilboy.

That pretty much sums it up! Hope to be there next year. Thank you.

As far as we have been told we can not serve beer that was not brewed on premise. We would need to switch our license from Farmer Brewer to Brewpub. We had originally thought we could serve beers made elsewhere but the ABCC has told us no. We even tried to host the Worts Homebrew club and put some homebrews on tap for free and the ABCC vetoed that idea hard. So legally we can't host the event, damn laws.

would love to try morph or whirlpool on cask....wow would that be tasty. Do u guys ever do cask version of your beers? Any chance we'll get to taste a NS brew at NERAX this year (wherever it ends up)? That I'd like to see!!

I'm no legal expert, but I don't think that your license would apply, because NERAX is a private ticketed event and your staff wouldn't be serving/selling the beer. (But who wants to take that chance with the ABCC? Also, even if I'm correct, it's still a pretty big ask for a small brewer to basically close their doors to the public for 4 days straight, which is what any NERAX host site would need to do.)

Ah, bummer. Thanks for the information though.

Totally forgot it's four days because I only go one day. Isn't that what Lord Hobo was doing as a brewery though?

Well, Lord Hobo Brewery isn't open yet, so it's not like closing their doors to the public impacts their bottom line. If they host it in future years, I'm sure they'll make sure it isn't something that would cause a significant financial loss.

Actually we need a full week. Cask-conditioned beer needs to settle for between one to three days before it's ready to serve.

Yeah, you'd do it under a special event license (sec 14) presumably. There's no obvious prohibition against the event taking place at another licensed venue.

I'm on your side. Without the biting prickliness of keg carbonation, IPAs fall flat (I wonder if the dissolved carbonic acid contributes as well...). I see the appeal of hops in the firkin, but I really miss the proper carbonation.

We used to do a weekly cask beer in the taproom. Sometimes it was hoppy beers dry hoppped again or with a different hops and other times it was playing with spices, fruits, etc. No matter what it as, the cask was never very popular and we often pulled the cask out of service before it was kicked. So we decided to stop wasting beer and serve it cold and bubbly.

We are sending a cask to Extreme Beer Fest for the NERAX table that is a blend of Whirlpool and a berliner. Should be tasty!

I would suggest the Armory on Highland in Somerville but it's A) Kinda tough to get to by transpo or car, B) Parking would be next to impossible, and C) NIMBY's have bitched about other beer events there.

Come to think of it, if Somerville really wants to be a first-class city, they should probably invest in some form of medium-sized events space. (Inner Belt?)

The Armory is actually a pretty easy walk or bus ride from the Davis Square Red Line stop, but it's not really viable for NERAX because it would be nearly impossible to rent the venue for an entire week. They have classes, concerts, and community events happening there most nights of the week.

Will always miss Dilboy post, but god... The sweaty flatulence was asphyxiating at times. As a NH'ite a move north is welcome for sure. A party at Dan's would be epic I'm sure. Never spent any time in Woburn but it would certainly be more accessible from NH.

I always thought this place would be great: huge parking lot and a big space upstairs and downstairs and is about 2 miles from the S. Attleboro Commuter Rail Station:

VFW Hall on Mystic Ave in Medford? Very near Somerville, lots of parking, transportation.
