Shouldn't Blushing Monk 2012 be coming out soon?

Which is why I buy a case. I'm down to 7 bottles until September!

This is not an annual release.

Missed out on Blushing Monk and CBH (have had Kaiser Curmudgeon before) but I thought CBS was fantastic and even Frangelic was amazing and light enough in body to enjoy in this heat.

I'm def. in the minority but I enjoyed Blushing Monk over CBS follow by FMB. (Never had CBH) CBS was pretty dissapointing, considering that Founders makes some of the best stouts in my opinion and Breakfast, FIS and KBS are three of my favorite stouts.

For me it's CBS, then Better Half and/or Blushing Monk...haven't tried the Frangelic Mountain Brown I just picked up but it won't be sitting around long.

I agree some of their regulars are generally better, but I don't think that's a knock on the series. I remember reading on Founders' site the point of the Backstage Series was to give customers who couldn't visit the brewpub a chance to try some unique beers that showed up at the pub from time to time, not to blow away anything they released in bottles before. In that regard, mission accomplished, keep them coming Founders!

Had a Blushing Monk about a month ago and it was incredible, so much better than I remember it being at the brewery. With that said:

CBS- still an absolutely incredible stout
    Blushing Monk- aged 1 year
Frangelic- had it on tap and it was tasty, not spectacular
CBH- left a lot to be desired

CBS - Nearly perfect when fresh, but I need to get off my butt and drink my last bottle because it ain't gonna get any better.
Blushing Monk - I enjoyed it far more than most people (and liked it a lot more than Cerise), but a bit sweeter than I'd like.
CBH - Didn't have the bottled batch, but I thought the draft version (as Kaiser Curmudgeon) was awful

I'm won't be picking up my Frangelics until next month, but I'm looking forward to it. Actually, if I can resist cracking a bottle until October, it'd be a nice side-by-side with Grey Monday.

    For me:

CBS - One of the best stouts out there. When fresh, the coffee was awesome with great cocoa notes and some nice maple on the back end.

Better Half - close tie with BM for me the maple notes were awesome and so were the woody notes. Very good Old Ale.

Blushing Monk - I love this brew and I stil have one bottle left. Had it both on tap and in bottles and I thought it was one of the best fruit beers out there.

    Cheers!

same here... for now. how long before this too goes the way of KBS and its ilk and becomes available for 20 minutes with a 2 bottles a customer limit? TBH i'm surprised a delicious bba founders beer lasts on the shelves as long as backwoods does.

Random question for the Founders fans like me out there....anyone able to find a bottling date on their FMB? I couldn't find one for the life of me. Not worried about the freshness, but I like to know.

Also, I know aging the FMB isn't suggested, but any thoughts on cellaring one? I've kicked the thought around a little bit.

I didn't see a date on mine either, but I didn't look too, too hard.

Also, I think cellaring is a horrible idea. Between the coffee and brown ale base, I just don't see anything positive happening. I think you'll just end up with a super-muted version of the beer.

I'd take a founders porter over anything in the backstage series.

That's what I figured. Either that or eventually it would turn into an over-sweet mess. Thanks for the opinion.

Sharing is caring... I don't even know you, but feel free to drive or fly to mn if you ever come across another bottle of CBS and need someone to share it with!
