This is for Albuquerque and Santa Fe and is entirely from what I could think of from memory and knowledge of availability. It doesn't differentiate seasonals from regulars and is in absolutely no particular order. Although sad compared to most areas, this is still a considerable amount of beers widely viewed as spectacular. If we widen the parameters to 90+ it gets to be about five to six times this at least.

I guess the point is we are fairly spoiled here and still bypass many of these beers. Also, it's criminal that no Marble Brewery beers are 94+. I question the validity of BA rankings on that alone.

Anyway, here's what we have at our disposal. Food for thought, I guess.

Seriously, where is all the love for Marble?! Imperial red, imperial stout, reserve ale, etc. World class brews with little recognition. Marble kills it!

I know this only perpetuating the thread jack but Marble is right up there with the best brewery in US of A that most haven't had the chance to try.

Same is true if I was to do this for what's in my garage right now.

But I guess that's part of my point, people live in places with 10 times the amount of so-called world-class beers, and they aren't buying them. Instead they're trading for something from out-of-state.

I'm having a convo with local friends here about this very issue. My theory is their greatest beers never see packaging: Stout 2286, Barleywine (although the Mug Club version was phenomenal and I still have my bottle), Black Magic Pumpkin, Farmhouse 111, El Robusto and on and on).

But I agree, Reserve and Imperial Stout are criminally underrated on here and I can't wrap my head around that.

Some are, some aren't. Not everybody trades, and not everybody believes that the grass is greener elsewhere.

Yeah, this sounds about right. You would think the ones that do make it to packaging would hold higher ratings though. More chances for them to be had, if you will.

Really hard to tell from Instagram and BA these days. Shared this list with my local share buddies. They probably hadn't had 7/8 of the list. And these are BEER guys. I'm sure this plays itself out in grand scale all over the country.

I equate it to the hip hop music I love. Young kids and fly-by night fans fall in love with the newest and greatest and won't give an ear to the forefathers. The part that stings most with both the music and beer in this equation is that the predecessors are often just as good if not better and in many cases conspicuously influenced those receiving the current fame. A little knowledge of history, influence, and even outright stealing from the predecessors is completely lacking.

Well, the packaged stuff really satisfies the locals, but at the end of the day they seek to please a wider audience and hit with consistency. They do that. That's not interesting to the traders and raters that want something over the top and out of this world.

I don't really look at the ratings, but when I do I definitely stay away from the /100 scores and just look at the rAvg. At a glance over half of their lineup is over 4, which generally means a very solid brewery.

Last summer I went to La Cumbre and Marble. If I go back and only had time to go to one it would absolutely be Marble.

So this thread serves what purpose? To show what diversity you have available to you? To show other with lesser distribution what they are missing? Or is it just a thin veiled attempt at starting a Marble Brewery thread about how you feel they should be included among these "+94" on BA ranked beers?

They especially don't for a lot of older, everyday beers. Half of the top 100 from tens years ago is pedestrian.
