I sure hope you are not working the door

You would think if they were going to make the effort to cross reference names from the official MBA list to presale tickets sold, they would just make you buy the tickets from the pub...a la DLD tickets. I just do not see it happening...it is not that big of a deal...X amount of presale tickets were sold...I think if you have one, and they are tagged as a MBA ticket, chances are you are getting in early without any issues.

The issue with that is that they (Goose Island) opens themselves to MBAs being pissed, because 1) some of them couldn't even get tickets at all, thanks to the password leak (my father, among them) and 2) why would non-MBA members be allowed in early? That would defeat the purpose of being an MBA.

Note that this isn't meant to be an attack on you; I'm just saying that I can see this being an issue.

Unless it is done different than in previous years, I do not believe the tickets indicate being an MBA or presale ticket. When you arrive you need your ticket and an ID and your ID is cross matched off the MBA list.

Prop kicked first last year and I believe it was 90 minutes (so 1:30ish). No idea what will happen this year, but I've never seen something kick in less than an hour at this fest. 2 years ago I got a generous pour of Cherry Rye and Blackberry BCBS back to back with only 30 minutes left to go in the event. Here's to hoping this event never changes.

Remember that these events are a marathon, not a sprint. Not only is taking 3 pours of Prop right at the start kind of a dick move, but it will also ruin the later half of the fest for you.

Touché. Good luck on cheating the system, but for the same of actual MBA members who deserve their early entree, I hope they still cross check the MBA list.

They may check both. If that's the case it'll be funny to see people be turned away, tale between their legs.

Would you call it cheating the system if the MBA ticket is a legitimate +1 that an actual MBA purchased and then transferred the name? Would Goose really want to go through the trouble of tracking something like this...I think not.

How could Goose fix the flaw in their system...

Only let MBAs only purchase 1 ticket and authenticate the membership before finalizing the sale...a la pub sale or exclusive passwords. If MBAs bought 2 tickets...how about making both people show up together, i.e. non-transferable tickets...a la DLD. How about just making the event exclusive to MBA members only? Would MBA members prefer any of those methods....I mean...they are entitled to a ticket, right?

Here is an idea...how about not sharing/selling the password. All it takes is one person to slip up...remember grade school..."I'm gonna tell you a secret, but you have to promise to not tell anyone else"...seriously...it is not that big of a deal

I am not surprised with the #newmoney generation finding every way they can to game the system. These issues were nonexistent in previous years, and now we have people asking openly how they can sneak into a membership only privilege.

It was never complicated in the past. MBA can buy 2 tickets, put each ticket in a name. I always showed up with my guest, gave my name and told them the other person was my guest and they got in. Once my guest showed a bit late I came out to get him in as my guest. That this even needs to be discussed is ridiculous. You're in the club or you're not.

I share your frustration @Dontcounttoday...the entitlement in Chicagoland nowadays is very disheartening. The MBA presale is a shitty system when not all members are guaranteed a ticket or 2. They should of shut it down years ago...the Chicago scene is too big now.

It is far too loosely ran but it was always going to outgrow the number of people they can reserve tickets for. The only set aside a certain percentage of tickets for MBA members, and there are very likely more members than there are tickets for the entire event. It is still easier to get those tickets than the general public usually so its still somewhat useful.

This argument about MBA tickets is making my brain hurt. Can't we just speculate on the taplist instead? We get it, demand for .rar beerz outpaces supply. Carry on.

I saw the breweries listed on the event page but does anyone know the other "tba" breweries? I saw that perennial is pouring there but haven't seen much on any others.
