For a bottle of CBS,

Drank some CBS this weekend with some friends. Coffee is still huge in this beer and the maple and bourbon are really mellow, but still add that sweet character to the beer.

 

I traded a CBS for Huna 1:1.

 

Regarding the maple-- while the beer was definitely one of the sweetest imperial stouts I've had, I didn't really get much maple when I tried it, and that was w/in 2 months of the bottle release last year. Definitely a great beer, but I didn't think it was significantly more enjoyable than KBS. (Actually, I'd enjoy one 12oz bottle of BB4D than a 750ml bottle of CBS.) That said, I'm a big proponent of trying something for oneself, as this hobby is so subjective.

This. CBS was good the handful of times I've been lucky enough to try it, but I actually prefer at least four (and maybe all) of those beers on the list to it. I'd do that deal pretty quick if I still had any of my bottles still.

 

did we have the same beer? I got overwhelming bourbon character in it... and loved it.

 

Muskabeatz said that the bottled we opened together was much different than the first bottle he tried. I don't remember how though.

 

How many BBPt5 would people trade for a CBS roughly out of curiosity?

i LOVED CBS when it was fresh (one of my all-time favorites)- but thought it was completely unremarkable when i had it again a few months ago (we did founders imperial stout & kbs the same night & both were better by a large margin)...

 

Yeah, I'm actually hyping Blauw and Roze because they need it compared to KH & CBS.

I'll also throw in a Lost Abbey cork & cage and Russian River coaster.
