Wait can you copy/paste that post? I filled a growler the day before and had it on tap at the bar and it definitely didn't taste like usual Nelson. Had a few people who shared the growler agreed. It was just ok

I'm sad that my first experience with Alpine was after the GF acquisition. I won't go out of my way to get any again. Nelson was good. Duet and Pure Hoppiness sucked. I hope Alpine is happy with the results.

So you are blaming GF for disliking the beer, even though you never had it prior. Interesting analysis there.

Well, I had heard enough praise which is why I seeked it out in the first place. I have had enough IPAs in my life to determine that the priase wasn't really warranted for what I had. It's not just me. Pure Hoppiness was totally flat and the Duet was malty as hell. I told my guy in Cali about it and he told the people at Alpine. They gave him 2 free bottles no questions asked. Clearly a sign of them working out any kinks.

Didn't think GF was brewing Pure Hoppiness yet.

    Were these bottles or draft?

Then definitely not the GF version...I'd ask your Cali buddy how old the bottles were.

Yeah, so you had bottles from Alpine that had absolutely nothing to do with Green Flash. Great job!

This post makes zero sense. Dude traded for Alpine bottles because the hype train rolls strong. He had 3 different ones, wasn't satisfied and posted his opinion. Usually, if a beer you purchased disappoints, you don't buy it again.

Am I missing something? Or was a post deleted?

Flat bottles of Pure Hoppiness existed long before GF came joined Alpines scene.

That sucks you got flat PH -- whoever brewed the stuff on at Alpine yesterday did a great job, probably one of the better batches I've ever had, super fresh/dank/pungent.

It sucks it was just a QC thing. Pure Hoppiness had the potential to be good but the fact that it was flat killed it for me. The Duet was still subpar. I know the bottles were fresh too.

I think the Alpine train is running out of steam for me. I see Alpine beers popping up everywhere in the OC/LA area these days. A year ago I would run over to the closest pub to get HB, Duet or Nelson. Sure it wasn't the same coming from GF. Nelson was the better of the 3. Last month I had a glass of HB in Tucson, AZ. Still not the same. Went back to HopSlam. So I read it's all over now. Not just here in CA. East coast, mid states, etc. I'm not even excited anymore when it's at my local pub. I will order something else. Maybe a Nelson occasionally. I notice most of the ones who order Alpine on draft liking it. But it's their first time having Alpine (GF) stuff. So soon (maybe this year) we will start seeing bottles coming from GF. I hope they can dial in the recipes before then. All bottles/growler fills sold out of Alpine will be from GF. I don't think I'll be making the road trip from OC anymore. What do the local Alpine beer drinking residents think of the changes at ABC?

What you are missing is that Frogout thought the guy was blaming the beer being bad on Green Flash, even though all the bottled stuff is still brewed in Alpine.

To my knowledge at least 1 or 2 of the beers I got were brewed by Green Flash. How do I know this? When my dude went and told Alpine they told him. I'm not trying to shun Alpine. I hope they are happy with the beer they are putting out but it's just not for me. Just like everything else, the people who can tell the difference will move on and the newbies will be none the wiser. From what I've read these past couple months, there is clearly a change in quality. I'm not the first to complain and I won't be the last. I will simply move on. I am a little sad that my expectations were not met but there are a ton of other great beers out there.

He was either confused or is lying to you.

They are not bottling at Green Flash, yet. Anything that is bottled is still being done strictly at Alpine. If it were a growler fill, it *could* be Green Flash brewed Alpine. Not only can you fill growlers at Green Flash, but apparently some of the kegs have made their way up the hill when they run out up there.

Read the full conversation. Guy from Florida comes in here saying GF ruined Alpine (even though he never had Alpine before the acquisition), and then states he had bottles - which are Alpine brewed and have nothing to do with GF. It seems he wanted to jump on some anti-GF Alpine bandwagon, but didn't research his "story" first. Seems it has ended now though, which is too bad because I expected the next iteration to somehow involve Pat personally apologizing or something.

Sorry if I ruined that for you, Froggie. Sometimes I just can't help myself.
