I will be visiting the Dallas-Forth Worth area next weekend March 20-30. To be precise, I will be staying in Trophy Club. Never been to Texas so I have ZERO clue on proximity. What are some good bars/restaurants to visit and some good bottle shops? Also are there any events/tastings/tappings going on, besides the start of the NCAA Bball tournament. Thanks for the info! Cheers!

I live in the Dallas area and have never been to Trophy Club. If you've never been here you'll realize how massive the DFW area is. I believe TC is kind of out there, you may even be closer to FW than Dallas. So in other words, I am no help whatsoever. If you make it to McKinney and/or Plano area I can be of much more assistance. Will you have your own car?

Edit: You are 40 minutes from Downtown Dallas and not much closer to Ft Worth. Like I thought you're out in BFE. During rush hour you can probably add an hour to that.

You're not really in civilization, but you're only 20-30 min from Hall's which is probably the closest good bottle shop.

I grew up in Trophy Club for a couple of years.

Why would anyone get a hotel out there?

My buddy out there from Cleveland. He is being put up in an Exteneded Stay for work while he looks for a place.

So since it seems I am in the middle of nowhere :astonished:....what places would be good to visit. I have all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Could make a day of it, with multiple places to check out within good distance of one another. Even thought about driving to Jester King for the day...

If I were in your shoes with absolutely nothing tying me to Dallas and fuel to burn, this is exactly what I would do. Leave Trophy Club around 8am on Saturday. That should put you in Dripping Springs around noon for a beautiful 70-degree, sunny day at Jester King. There a few things better for my money.

You could even hit one of the many top-notch BBQ places on your way down if you're so inclined. Louie Muellers, Snows or even one the places out west like Opies or Inmans.

One word of caution - that is SXSW weekend so Austin-proper will be an absolute madhouse. Not sure what it does to JK crowds, but the weekend of ACL festival was fine. If you're making the drive, consider the scenic 281 route instead of 35-south.

Off topic but you're only about 10 minutes from Babe's, which is a damn fine place to get a chicken fried steak.

Central market in Southlake and Whole Foods in Colleyville won't be too far for you. Both have a nice selection

Gingerman in Southlake Town Center. 10 minute drive. Central Market right across the street.
Shannon Brewery in Keller opened their taproom recently. 10 minute drive.
Rabbit Hole Brewery in Justin. 10-15 minute drive.
Go north to Denton. Bunch of decent bars and there is a new brewpub/taproom in town. 20 minute drive.
Mellow Mushroom in Southlake usually has a decent tap selection. 10 minute drive.
Hall's bottle shop in Colleyville. 15 minute drive and with new highway you can get there and back without hitting a stoplight.

Or go there first then drive west on Glade to Whole Foods. Then go northeast on 26 to Market Street. Check the service counter to see if they are holding anything special. Continue northeast on 26 to the Krispey Kreme, turn left and go due north to Central Market and Gingerman at Southlake Blvd. Bam, you're basically back to Hwy 114. Turn left to head back to Trophy Club.

I'd second Mellow Mushroom in Southlake - I think Mondays are 1/2 off everything on the menu/beers all day. In Denton, I'd aim to hit Oak Street Draft House on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon and enjoy the beer-garden for a few hours.

Great info... Another vote for Mellow Mushroom. Always great tap selections, and you cant beat the half price appetizers and beer on Mondays.
Babe's in Roanoke is BYOB so you can have a badass chicken fried steak and whatever beer you want.
Jack 'n Grill is down the street from Babe's and usually has a good tap selection as well.

Jump on 121 North to Lone Star Taps & Caps for some beers and growlers/crowlers.
Go a few minutes south to Lone Star Bev...
