Just found out that this brewpub is opening up in Cedar Park, not far from my house. Anyone have any info on them, other than what's on their site? About: Coming late 2014, Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co. is set to be the first brew pub in Cedar Park, TX, offering fresh house roasted coffees and craft brewed beer. With a focus on local supporting local, Red Horn will offer locally crafted baked goods, charcuterie, cheeses, sodas, kombucha, craft beer and more from around Texas. http://www.redhornbrew.com
Well, this one slipped even under my radar. Adding it to the list. Glad more stuff is going in up in suburbia.
I am confused: "Red Horn's first employee was officially hired today; Head Brewer, Zack Gardner. Zack, we've had this day circled on our calendar for a long time, we couldn't be happier. Here's to many days of hard work, plenty of good times, and a lot of brewing and beer tasting. Thanks for taking this ride with us. Welcome to the Red Horn family." Why waste money on paying a brewer when you can just stick brewery in your name? I think Wagner Bros have it right.
Perhaps he's just head coffee brewer... Anyways, looking forward to more ambers, IPAs, and brown ales to try. /speculation
I went twice yesterday. First time for coffee in the morning, and then at night for a few brews. The place is awesome and the owners are good people. Really enjoyed it. I'm excited to see how there house beers turn out.
Their base lineup will be a red ale, brown ale, golden ale, ipa and coffee stout (made with their own coffee). But Zack also wants to do season/one-off stuff (he wanted to do an Irish coffee stout for St Paddys, but the system wont be ready in time) and also talked about getting some barrels and doing some barrel aged stuff too. So they definitely have a vision of starting in one place, but then growing and expanding their own stuff over time, which is great. Here's the tap list right now. They said they'll always have a cider, a kombucha, a mead, and at least 1 offering on nitro, as well as the beer taps (and NEVER bud/miller/coors stuff)
I think I'm going to really like this place. Went in yesterday morning. Had an espresso shot. As stated in an earlier post the staff was extremely friendly. The brew master was in the final cleaning of the tanks. They should have their own beer probably for drinking in about a month. The atmosphere reminded me of joints I would find in Chicago. I told the them I was surprised they had Prairie Bomb on tap. I told them it was a little early for me to have a beer. Before I knew it I had a small sample glass in my hand. Nice. Oh well, what's a sample.............
