We've been fighting a terrible barley harvest. High beta-glucans meant some 12-22 hour lauters, which darkened and caramelized the wort a little (there's not actually any crystal malt, just 2-row and white wheat). I almost dumped 100 BBL, but after some favorable blind tests against all the other good IPAs I could find, I just couldn't quite justify it (it's not like we're making any money yet...). We've finally dealt with it (had to start doing a protein rest, which shouldn't be necessary with these grains), and all of the new batches are lighter and brighter. So if what's out there isn't quite what you remember, you're right (it's actually closer to the first batch last year, but I think most people remember the 2nd and 3rd batch instead). The batch we're kegging tomorrow and the 100 BBL we're canning in 2 weeks is what the beer is supposed to be, maybe even better than last year.

I'm curious about any more feedback on can to can variance. This beer does occasional drastic overnight changes within a single tank or keg (citrus peel and yeast peachiness come and go at their whim, dankness just occasionally pops up, but pineapple stays pretty constant) so it wouldn't surprise me that a sixer over the course of a few days could seem different. I guess it could also change at different rates can to can.

Distributor ran out of the first run of cans and kegs pretty quickly, and a number of the places I know that got big shipments of cans are out. There won't be any more cans until first week of April, but a new draft batch is coming out next week, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding it on tap. We'll for sure have it on tap at the brewery.

Like the fellow said previously, it's a great testament to your pursuit of perfection that you are engaged and listening here - to perhaps your most nit-picky of consumers. Looking forward to the next wave of cans; it will be interesting to see how they compare.

I did notice notice a deeper color on the canned version then the draft. It had the same tasting notes between both can and draft for me.

I was in town yesterday for lunch and was on the hunt for TMoS and BHB's Didjits. HopCity KSM was out entirely, but Green's on Ponce still had several cases available, so I was able to grab a couple six-packs. It's been quite a while since I had TMoS on draft from my local growler shop, so it's difficult to compare, but I cracked open the first can last night and it's an outstanding beer. Love the juicy fruit flavors. Nice work, Jason!

(by the way, HopCity KSM had not yet received any Didjits and I grabbed the last couple of bottles at Green's)

Where? A small amount has made it to Savannah, at least on draft. We'll be brewing 140-160 BBL/mo of it, so it will definitely make it around the state unless it becomes far more popular than I'm anticipating.

I live in a little town called Cordele, Georgia. You've probably never heard of it, but I'm about an hour South of Macon right on I-75. I'm crossing my fingers it makes it down this way as I'm a huge believer in supporting local breweries. Plus I'm a hophead and the fresher the IPA the better in most cases.

Why is it pronounced with a long E as in "seal" and not a short E as in "fell"?

You probably have more power than me, by asking local places to carry it. We're distributed statewide, but don't get nearly as many orders outside of Atlanta, Athens, and Savannah.

So the new batches will be dialed up a bit better going forward?

First thing I noticed was the color and the carmelization that took place, wasn't sure I was going crazy or not.

Tons of pineapple though, and some dank notes, so it's still tasty.

@jpellett251 My opinion: Used to love IPAs but got burnt out and hate any bitterness in IPAs now so I only got one can from a friend. Really liked it. Also alcohol was hidden very well IMO but my friend said it was boozy. Same 6 pack. Glad it wasn't super bitter. Hope it doesn't change too much in future batches.

Wow, you must be familiar with Cordele because you know how it is properly pronounced. Like I tell everyone else, if it were pronounced like "fell" it would be spelled Cordell. ;-) But I've never met anyone not familiar with Cordele who pronounces it correctly on the first try.

Cool. I have a great relationship with the owner of my local bottle shop so I'll definitely be asking him to order it if possible. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm in Macon and I'm slowly learning how to pronounce things in Georgia. Figuring out Pio Nono Ave and Ocmulgee were my first victories.

If it was pronounced like "seal" wouldn't it be Cordeal? Maybe I should have asked why it wasn't pronounced like "Clientele"? Just admit your city is pronounced wrong!

HA!!! Well I'm not originally from Cordele but I believe it was named after an actual person and he pronounced his name, so I guess he pronounced his name wrong?!? It's kind of like how Houston County (the county where I actually work, Robins AFB) is pronounced "House-ton" instead of like how Houston, Texas is pronounced. We got a new guy that just transfered here from California a few weeks ago and when we told him it was pronounced "House-ton" he just looked at us like we were crazy.

To be fair, NYC pronounces it House-ton Street, so it's really Houston, Texas that screwed up the pronunciation for the rest of us. But really, that's just another last name situation as well.
