Welcome to the rodeo. I've typed up a comprehensive list of tips that can be found in this post.

Re: Friday night bottle shares - there are a bunch on Friday night. My close personal friend hosts one and has said that he's open to "making it big" this year, but my annual attendance at that means I'm not too privy to the hotel shares.

Re: Saturday sharing - it's usually a free-for-all. There's no real segregation, you just offer beer around and people offer it back. Have a cup at the ready and bring 5-8 bottles of your best. In terms of coolers, I bring a backpack with a soft cooler built in (like this) and have never had a problem. Stick some frozen water bottles in there and you're good to go all day for beer AND water.

Fixed! I swapped over to see 8 people looking at it but no one editing rofl.

Is it worth posting it as a topic somewhere so it's at the top of a thread about DLD, maybe with my big post of tips for newbies? Don't want to create duplicate threads but the stuff that's going to get asked the most will continue to get buried in what is sure to be a 50 page thread. :/

Since they have been putting up a tent the last couple years just for bottle shares, I highly doubt they would discourage it. That's usually most of the fun. The biggest problem is not being able to drink it all! There are also shares in the line to get in and the line to get dark lord.

You can get a cooler backpack like this - http://www.amazon.com/Backpack-Cooler-Bottom-Designed-Securely/dp/B00JZRDMHC/ref=sr_1_11
    Works well enough.

I highly recommend bringing a camelbak or something to keep hydrated. You don't want to be the guy sitting in his own puke at noon.

I also highly recommend bringing one of those mesh grocery bags to put your dark lord bottles in. Those holders they give you aren't the greatest. You see this EVERY year:

Last year the State Police stopped allowing people to bring in their own bottles around 3pm or so. I think they were concerned that people were getting too drunk and then walking back to their cars. They did not shut down the bottle share though. Since the bottle sharing question was removed from the DLD FAQ page some people have speculated that bottle sharing would be banned, but I doubt that is the case. Three Floyds probably just doesn't want to openly promote it on the site.

Bottle shares are held literally everywhere, but the nexus is under the huge tent with picnic tables. Tons of bottle sharing goes on in the line to get in and in the Dark Lord bottle sales line.

No hard coolers is the rule, backpack coolers, or anything that you can carry with a shoulder strap is allowed. If you need wheels to cart it along, that won't be allowed in. I would get a backpack cooler and maybe one of those fabric reusable shopping bags to put your allotment in.

Bring a back pack cooler. I have the one below that I bought specifically for DLD, I fit about 14 bombers/375s last year. The DL comes in the handy 4 pack cardboard carrier (you may want to hold from the bottom ) so you can set them on the ground where you are congregating and when the bottles in the cooler deplete you can toss them em. The line on the way in is one giant bottle share, it's very easy to blow though your stash before you get in if you are passing them around... or, if you and your group are by and large, drunkards.

Does it fit the 750ml bottles as well? If not, what do you guys recommend I use to carry from the hotel to the event. Thanks!
