Which of the other ones have you tried? I've only seen 3 "regulars" so far, the rest is some expensive BA stuff.

Good choice! I am sure that your 'yeast count' was down after all of that exertion.

    Cheers!

I always found it interesting that while playing Fußball in Germany (lower leagues) everyone drank hefeweizen after the game - truly God's isotonic beverage. It goes without mentioning that it was the "shower beer".

    Yup!
At Ultimate frisbee tournaments we drink it all the time. I guess nobody noticed, but I was drinking the Alkoholfrei version.

Interestingly the only time I tolerated Coors Light was after ice hockey games - at first I got upset when teammates would bring it, but then I realized after that much exercise I was craving water and that's basically what the Coors Light was.

At the tennis club, we call it "sports beer." Easy to pound 3 right after a match as a way to rehydrate.

Coors Light (Bud Light, etc) are frequently referred to as "Sex in a Canoe" - fucking close to water!

    ;-)

    Prosit!!

The funny thing is, and it's not the played out joke, but the mass produced macro lager from many countries are just the same.

I hear ya.... When I played I would come in off the ice being drenched in sweat... 99% of the crew liked swill.... I would grab an ice-cold one and drain it right quick.... hit the spot, at that moment, though I'd never drink one otherwise! Prosit!!

Dave, IMO this just demonstrates that there is indeed a time for every type of beer. The last time I had a bottle of Coors Light (I think 5 years ago?) was when I ordered some Buffalo Chicken Wings. The look my wife made when I made that order was priceless. I suppose I could have just ordered water instead but it seemed to me at the time was that Coors Light would go well with that food. At the time I think I was 'right' and even today I still think I was 'right' then.

    Cheers!

    Jack

Just saw this posted on Facebook - a new craft beer event, in all places Regensburg, which is great news for @Stahlsturm who can finally enjoy German and Bavarian craft beer right in his backyard.

I can't wait for his response...... :grinning:

Can't he do this already? Doesn't Spital make a Pale Ale/IPA? I thought there was some discussion of this before.

Anyway, I'm sure Stahlsturm will be more than grateful that craft beer has finally arrived in his town to sweep away such boring beers as Kneitinger's Pils and Dunkel. [do I need the emoticon?]

Of all the Brauereien in Bamberg and surrounds, the place they mention is Cafe Abseits? I've been there, and while it's a good place to visit, it reminds me more of an American bar than any other place I visited in town.

Wait, so you mean they chose an American-style place -- and American-style "craft" beers -- as the exciting alternative to "boring, old" German beer. What a surprise. (Yawn)

If Augustiner Helles is "blond industrial beer," I'm more than happy to never drink another "craft" beer in my life.
