Besides saying beer do you have a favorite term other than beer?

Liquid bread--not overly used in conversation, but I like the term. Also, "liquid courage".

I usually go with brewskie. If it's BMC beer I'll also refer to it as "swill".

I've always liked "liquid bread," and thought "oat soda" was a pretty good one when I heard someone use that one. Though I suppose not all beers would be literally "oat soda" considering that oats are fairly uncommon beer ingredients compared to barley and wheat.

Having lived around a lot of Mormons (and looked into their religion's history) for the past few years, I also like "mild barley drink." Which is a term that pretty much comes directly from the same Mormon religious text that prohibits hard liquor or "strong drink" (which modern-day Mormons use to justify avoiding all alcohol)... it actually lists "mild drink" as an appropriate use for barley in the set of passage that goes over all the various things you can use different grains for. Unless people were making some other drink out of barley back in the 1830s, that seems to be a clear reference to beer. XD

As far as what I use in general conversation, though, it's usually just plain ol' "beer."

My other word for beer is: "coffee."

Seriously, it's one or the other which make up 98% of my daily liquid intake. Likewise, if I walk into a relative's house it's: "do you want a coffee?", while with college or music-head friends it's: "Wanna beer?" Family is teetotalish, donchaknow.

P.S. 'Round these parts sweet, bubbly soda is called "pop", so "barley pop" is as common as any of them' thar other terms.

I use "brew" almost as much as beer, and I occasionally facetiously use "barley soda", but my favorite term is "Nectar of the Gods". I was calling Guinness that way back when I first getting into craft beer.
It almost seems I'm the only one thus far, because my vote is the only one.
