If they don't have a to-go line for other beers...I. Will. Lose. My. Shit.

And if, in 6 weeks, that comes to fruition I will no longer be Bruce Banner, I will become the Hulk.

I wonder if this has something to do with getting the proper permits in place for keeping the bottle share. Liquor has some of the most ass backwards laws, many dating back to the end of prohibition. I wonder if there is something with people bringing bottles and having bottles for sale at the same place.

And 3 floyds wont lose any money by not selling cases at DLD, they sell every drop of beer they make, whether its at DLD, at the kiosk or to a distributor. Now you might find FFF at a store in April, since they wont be stockpiling it for Dark Lord like they used to.

Or maybe this is because of their new distribution contract. Windy City didn't write an 8 figure check to miss out on their cut of the sales.

I went to the brewpub last year on Friday evening. 45 minute wait to eat and get beer, but it was all good.

These were my first thoughts as well. Something about bottle share + package sales and cases of ZD passed around.

The only thing that doesn't make sense about that is Dark Lord bottle sales are still package sales. More likely it's about distro contracts, capacity to sell it (employees/physical space), bumping up against the in-state sales volume limit (30,000 barrels), or eliminating another huge line situation. Because it was, what, a 2 hour line at the peak to get to-go bottles last year or something?

Edit: The more I think about it, the more the in-state sales cap makes sense. Especially given that FFF and Sun King have a huge campaign to raise it: http://supportindianabrewers.com/

Anyone hear anything about the pre-dark lord party at Flossmoor this year?

    Pretty awesome time last year.

People, including myself, had a hard time figuring out what line started where. Part of it is definitely a line issue. Maybe they will have twice the taps this year with no to-go sales

Damn, 2 hours for the to-go. I waited maybe 8 min. But I went to check it out pretty early.

The cause for the lack of a to-go sales area is irrelevant (whatever the cause, assuming this will come to fruition). FFF could have given us all a heads up BEFORE hand. BEFORE Saturday 14 March 2015, @ 12, noon, Central time. Instead, it's, "Let them drop some money first, THEN we'll tell them a large reason why many of them are coming this year is null and void! Muhahahahaha!"
There's really only 4 reasons to go to DLD: 1) tailgating/bottle sharing as you wait for the gates to open, 2) getting various beers to-go, 3) getting DL to-go and 4) see 1,2 & 3. So, what's the point of attempting to get GA tix now? Why even bother? They can't buy DL unless they haggle someone out of one (for WAY more than it's worth, more often than not). They can't get ANYTHING to-go now. They can, however, stand in a line for 45+ minutes to get a $6 Solo cup of Zombie Dust to wash down their $8 hotdog. Thank god I got lucky and got a Group B ticket, at least I'll have something to show for my time when the dust settles.
Thank you, Three Floyds, for allowing me the privilege of paying $90 in tickets to allow me to stand in another line to spend another $60-$80 in beers I'm just going to trade away for better beers! Thank you, angels! Thank you!

The fucking Dark Matter line was the worst. It stretched from their booth by the brewpub north towards the entry gates, running into the Dark Lord and to-go sales lines at one point. It also mingled with the FFF draft lines and the food vendor lines on the south side. Huge mess.

One of my friends hit it right when the gates opened and was in and out quick. Another friend went maybe half an hour after gates blew and it took him over an hour to get back.

This was pretty shitty of them not to tell us about the to go sales. But driving from Massachusetts, you bet I'm going to be there Friday to get cases. Not gonna waste the trip.

Well, even if you can't buy cases of ZD or bottles of Dark Lord, it's still a beer fest with bands playing. So $30 gets you in, and assuming you're still allowed to bring in your bottles, you can still have bottle shares and you can queue up to get whatever is on tap there. If I recall, Toppling Goliath was tapping one of the Sues last year, and obviously FFF had BAVDL and other offerings on tap. As someone who may not get the chance to try the aforementioned beers any time soon, that's a solid selling point. Also, as someone from Chicago, the loss of to-go sales isn't a big deal to me, as everything but ZD is pretty regularly available around town (and cases of ZD are at FFF relatively regularly). Not trying to brag; just saying that to-go sales might not be the first thing on everyone's mind. It's Dark Lord Day, after all; if I wanted a case of FFF beer I could drive over on a regular day and save the $30.

I won't recognize you unless you're wearing snowboarding gear, along with the goggles of course. You probably shouldn't stray from that outfit, regardless of temp.
