What he said was a huge part of it, it was great to have a box that was "well thought out" so much more than usual. Also, because it was the holidays, it was cool to have a couple group events that I took "my bottle of the day" to (admittedly they weren't opened amid the fray, but that's beside the point).

Another fun aspect for me was having at least one of the beers I had each day decided for me; I often end up with such indecision about what to drink that I actually consume less than I would have if I had fewer choices to make

...#firstworldbeerproblems for sure, but the struggle is real

The planning of that box was alot of fun - enjoyed the hell out of it.

My box was also all individually wrapped, but my Santa was cool - told me to open them whenever the heck I wanted - LOL

I think I would have enjoyed equally waiting as you did though.

I'm having trouble differentiating between the big rounds and the smaller ones, very few people follow the guidelines anyway. Enough people in here that I bet there's enough interest.

That said, my wallet is shredded from this hobby and my cellar is overflowing. Even though I haven't been terribly active with a lot of the side action here or just lately in general, I probably gotta slide outta here for a while after I get my circle jerk box out. I love what this has become but it's too much for me right now.

As long as you keep lurking/participating in here you'll probably hear about these things, but both the 12 Days and the one I'm planning, like Stout IV, have their own thread with a bunch of "usual suspects" jumping into the fray. This thread has enough going on as it is that we don't need to house ultimately "unrelated" BIFs too, but they'll be talked about for sure.

Yeah I reveled in the structure of "this is for Tuesday, this is for Friday" etc. I also enjoyed that you were clearly trying to kill me.

I really did feel bad (much more so than I needed to) that the days of and immediately following the SWTFYW bottleshare I didn't have my 12 Days bottles, but it was just not practical given what else was going on.

Oh, and another unmentioned part of the 12 Days that I really liked was not just being told what to drink, but being "forced" into opening a bottle I might otherwise have sat on indefinitely. Taking away the "I'd feel bad not sharing this" feeling I often have was very liberating.

I liked the daily pRon and the lack of having to choose what to drink when. And @UTvols05 was an awesome sender; he sent me random anecdotes and stories about the beers. On the other hand, while most of us posted at least one picture a day, my target hardly posted at all, which took some of the fun out of it for me -- I think we all care (almost) as much about our target liking what we send as about what we receive; while I was able to see lots of good posts I missed that part of it.

Trust me Bill, no one is looking at you wondering "Gee, I wonder when that guy is gonna send more beer out". This thread is so much more than just the boxes that fly around (even as many as there are), we are a community.

Personally, I don't want anyone to feel like they aren't welcome to hang out with the group, shoot the shit, throw out guesses on LIFs, etc; regardless of how long ago was the last round they participated in.

So - @Syracuse12 ninja'd me with the LIF box he won from @NJB145 and now its my turn to do a LIF. I had this idea yesterday and it may be the stupidest thing ever - but what the hell, let's give it a shot.

    The Lurker LIF

    Timeframe: March 17 (now) - March 24 11:59pm PDT
Rules: Whomever gets the Locals Lurker (@Mipper) to engage the most in this thread for the next week wins. How, you ask? If the lurker replies/quotes to a comment of yours - 2 points. If the lurker likes a comment of yours - 1 point. Now I understand this bestows some power on @Mipper - but so be it, he's a fine BA. To win you must have participated/posted in the Locals thread before (I know we have a couple of newbies, so keeping it open to them w/o BIF participation restriction).

I will, however, kindly ask that if you participate in this LIF you keep track of the Likes and/or Comments our dear lurker gives you. Come 3/25 - BM me the number you got to and I will validate the result.

Get creative - the lurker maybe likes jokes? pr0n? anecdotal beer stories about the Locals?

The winner shall receive a fine assortment of PNW goodies.

Yes. This was run by the Lurker and he will gladly help with likes, comments and surprise appearances (thanks Eric!)

    Cheers!

@billhelm I understand where you are at as that is a reason why I took a break after the first round of Locals. I had a bunch of trades happen and the wallet needed a break. I felt it was easier to remove myself so I wasnt tempted to get move involved but now I am back and waiting for the next round. If you take time off to rest the wallet then we will see you when you get back.

This! I want to feel liberated, I even try to hoard 12 oz bottles, had a Chocolate Truffle Stout yesterday and I was thinking of saving it.

It feels a little greedy having a 'special' beer by yourself.

    Don't you think @Mipper ?

I want to see @Mipper get in here, post something, and then quote it for 2 points, and not give a single person a like or a quote for the rest of the week.

Oh, I don't feel like that at all. You guys are my beer brothers (and sisters) from all over and I love that. It's great to have... I don't feel any pressure, it's more just my personality - I get too tempted by this stuff and over commit. It's not helping my wallet or my cellar, especially when I'm not drinking as much as I used to.

What @MCMASTERSANCHEZ said too; I didn't mean to suggest you aren't allowed to simply 'take a break' either, temptation is a bitch. I just wanted to convey that 'direct' and 'indirect' participation are both encouraged, even if only one at a time.

I want to set up an account with the username @mlpper instead of @Mipper (with an l instead of the i) and then like pretty much everything anyone posts. B

I used to be friends with the local UPS guy when I lived down in Los Angeles. I literally used to just walk in and put bottles of beer on the counter (in plain view) and he would take them and wrap them up for me and ship em out. He'd charge me like $5-$15 each time and it was always 3-4 day estimated with a tracking number.
I used to slide him a Pliny or anything I got doubles of from my trades

See! This is why I didn't send a list...
I knew there were going to be so many repeats..
