That makes sense, your probably right.
What would have made more sense is 15 028, I would have gotten that one.

I bought a 6 pack of IPA cans in late 2014 and the numbers on the bottom of the can indicated a date of about a year before purchase. I emailed the brewery and they said the numbers on the cans are batch numbers and not dates and that my beer was very fresh (but they did not provide me with a canning date).

Just got a reply from the brewery --

"We are working on revamping our dating system. The ink jetter that we were using on the bottom of the can is broken. Working on getting it fixed! We did use some stickers on the can box, but it didn’t look good. Confused with a pricing sticker. It is a top priority though, and we’ll get something on packages asap!"

I can confirm the can box stickers were a touch confusing, though again my recent dalliances with German beer had sharpened my Julian code deciphering skills, so I was able to cobble together what they meant. Looking forward to some clearer dates, though.

Crushed a Mosaic 22 oz last night. UNREAL Tastes like a Beachwood DIPA. Probably the best tasting IPA out of a bottle I've tasted since I won the Kern lottery and maybe better than that.

Has anyone seen Mosaic IPA at any of the Whole Foods locations in LA?

I agree, but who's complained about them having a relatively simple lineup?

Saint Archer, from what I can tell, has a fairly tight business plan. They aren't going to make many beers that can't be sold in a significant amount (of cans or bottles), and they probably aren't going to have too many things out there at once because they'll just be competing with themselves for shelf space.

    BPT link???

jk... kinda... I'm gonna pick up that Mosaic DIPA tonight. Haven't had too much of their stuff tbh since I've moved here, but it's getting solid write ups.

Saint Archer is right around the corner from work, and I stumbled onto their Mosaic DIPA release last week. It's very good, super heavy on the Mosaic like a Grunion but it has some more kick to it.

Just posting to say ST archer has been my go to ipa for about 5 months now. great beer great price. I love the bitterness of it in the can. Also why would anyone disagree with the marketing? It makes no difference to me.

My impression with why people were peeved by the marketing was when they first came out, all they did was focus on marketing and trying to look like the newest hip brewery ingrained in surf culture, etc. without trying to make sure that they were even making drinkable beer. It was like they had gone to the "Golden Road School of Opening a Brewery". At least, that was my take at the time. San Diegans, correct me if I'm wrong here (I could be misremembering completely). I believe since then, perceptions of them have changed significantly. They're putting some great product into the market, now.

I must have missed that since I dont live in san diego. I like how how they mention the artist/athlete aspect as part of the collaborative process. that must be what people dont like but I dig it.

The Mosaic DIPA is fantastic, maybe the best beer Ive had from them.

    Cheers,

Yeah, I think the skepticism had to do with a non-brewer, with significant backing from some action sports figures, opening up a brewery and pumping up the name recognition of said figures. It just kinda made you stop and think, "OK, fine, but is the beer actually any good?" It felt a little too stock -- a And I thought that as a former skateboarder who otherwise really liked some of the skaters involved in the project.

The key for me was the hiring of Yiga Miyashiro, who'd had a ton of experience/success with Pizza Port and Lost Abbey. They really seemed to dial it in after that. And, I agree @vinylfiend1, that IPA has a legit bitterness, true to the West Coast style, and I really enjoy it. I love the pale and DIPA even more. That's kinda where I've landed with Saint Archer -- the initial rollout/marketing/whatever felt a little gimmicky, but the proof's in the pudding, or beer as it were, and that stuff is really damn good. Honestly, I think their pale/IPA/DIPA combo is as strong as any in SD. Love it anytime I get to stop into the brewery/tasting room, and, frankly, I reach for their stuff before a lot of other SD brewers, both established and new to the scene. Saint Archer is legit.

Just wished they would bottle date..
Cant we make a law that every brewery has to bottle date their beers? its not that hard..
Drinking saint archer double ipa for the first time and its pretty legit(fresh bottle).
Excited now to drink the mosaic ipa now!
Goin to put these guys back on the radar.
