When I had it a few months back, I'm fairly sure they said Templeton Rye barrels were used. So I gather the stuff on tap at CPD now is not bourbon BA. I don't see a review page for it.

Does bourbon barrel vs. whiskey barrel make a big difference, ultimately? Idk, probably not with a beer as sweet as this one.

The Chicago Police Department has a tap room now? My taxes are working well.

No, seriously. It's just beer. I obviously enjoy great craft beer since I regularly read and post at this forum. However, my life doesn't revolve around it. If I miss a tapping of the latest superhyped imperial stout from (fill in the blank) brewery aged in (fill in the blank) barrels, that's okay. I'll most likely have another opportunity. If I don't, life will go on. For every brew I miss I'll have the opportunity to try several that other people haven't been as fortunate to try. I'm perfectly satisified being able to appreciate what comes my way and it's always fun meeting new people and sharing the experiences with friends new and old.

Finally, I've found that if your patient, as far as craft beer goes, opportunity rarely knocks once. So, yes, it's just beer and there are more important things in life to worry about.

Made it to Philly too actually for Philly Beer Week. And I thought it was interesting but others that tried it thought it was a bit medicinal. The version I had was quite minty almost. If it's within like 30 minutes, I'd say go for it otherwise it's probably not worth. BB Plead the Fifth would be worth it though. Love that beer.

I still have no idea which bar is CPD. There are too many abbreviations here sometimes. It doesn't take too long to type out whole words. IMO, WICDTI BBPt5 > DHBBSS ADOTW, FWIW BTW....FYI.

I am betting he meant City Provisions Deli. They are closed on Mondays, though, so who knows if it is still on tap.

I had the 666 at City Provisions the day after my birthday and I loved it. It's really freaking unique, but how Cleetus was talking they only had one 1/6 barrel of it. I haven't been back there in a month or so and I'm not sure if they still have it.

They did just tap their MCAison collab with Floosmoor which is a saison featuring Mick Klug strawberry & rhubar on Sunday so that's still probably on tap too. This beer they are also "debuting" at the Green City Market Chef's BBQ.

If you've never been I'd recommend the brunch at City Provisions. It's amazing and Cleetus is a super nice dude.
