I was able to pick up a coffee and a coconut about 10 minutes ago after endless refreshing, so I'd keep trying.

I had a coco in my cart, but closed the window after seeing the total price. I just can't justify paying $32 for a 22oz bottle. Modern Times is my favorite brewery and Black House is my favorite year round beer, but $30+ is getting a bit ridiculous, particularly for a BA beer that everyone complained about last year for having no carbonation.

I don't blame MT or any of the other craft breweries that are charging 2x (or more) what they used to for their BA bottles (just saw Abyss 2014 for $25 at a local shop). Glad there are still some BA bottles out there like Lagunitas Scarecity that are priced <$10. Just had to opt-out of the BPT hype.

It's that price because they had to invest in the equipment to assure that they didn't have the same issue as last time. You can't complain... well, you can, but it would make little sense to complain about having to pay a bit more to guarantee that the issues are hammered out.

Why folks are still bringing up the low carb as an issue when they went overkill this time to make sure it was a mistake that wasn't going to be repeated is beyond me.

Just curious, anyone want to tell me what the ceiling is for you on these beers? The most expensive one sold out the fastest, so let's talk about that one. Everyone in here who bought one, at what point would you pass? I ask because I freaking love coconut stouts, but I had to draw my line here. Everyone has a line. What's yours? $40? $50? $60?

I'm sure serious wine drinkers would kill to have some of the best highest rated bottles of wine priced around $40.

I would not do $40 at this time. $35...maybe? $40, definitely not. But then, that is without trying it. If it's my favorite beer in the world I could pay much much more...Like Chez for example. If it would be released today at $200 a bottle I would buy a couple.

I would have stopped if it was above 30 (I only bought the coffee and coconut)

I can't knock the hustle, since folks are buying this (and seemingly every BA stout that hits shelves) up like hotcakes, but I opted out of the game a long time ago. $15 is pushing it crazy hard for me, and even at $10 I'm asking serious questions. If I want BA stuff, I'm looking for 12oz/4-pack offerings. That dollar limit is true for other styles too. If I'm really dying to try something, it can usually be found on draught. Otherwise, I'll just go without.

Obv., you and I are the exceptions to the rule, though. Tons of folks are happy to shell out, and more power to 'em, I suppose.

Just curious: I understand that you're spending less at that time, but does it make more sense to spend, let's say, $8-10 for 6-8oz instead of $30 for a full bottle? It's either the same thing or even more expensive.

I hear you, but the difference is that I'm not doming BA stout bombers myself -- they're probably being shared anyway. So, I'm eating $20 on average (or closer to $30 here) for what is functionally one pour. And even if I put a stopper in it and drink it the next night, I'm still looking at, on average, $10/pour, which is no better than (if not worse than) whatever I'd pay on draught. And, frankly, after one pour of Parabola or that sort of thing, I'm generally not in the mood for an encore the next night. So, pay for it on draught, pocket the difference, and spend it on a nice sixer or something.

Every now and then I might splurge to throw something into the cellar to bring out for a gathering or something, but it kills the value-conscious half of me every time I do it:slight_smile:

The nice thing is that pales/IPAs/lagers/etc., whether from MT or otherwise, are always nice and cheap, so everyone wins.

i think it's kind of humorous how people are saying how easy it was to buy these. granted, it is easy, to click some buttons. but if you aren't sitting there refreshing your browser at the nanosecond the sale goes on, and get your purchase in within 2 minutes, then it's not easy

Agree with everything breadwinner just said. :sunglasses:

The day non-BA Monsters Park came out, I drank the whole bomber on a weeknight by myself. First sip was great, but it quickly started to feel like one of those Adam Richman Man vs Food challenges by the time I got to the last 4oz. Didn't want to waste it, and had no stoppers. Too much liquid sugar for 1 human to down in a sitting. Wish more breweries bottled 12oz 4-packs of BA imperial stouts.

I perfectly understand that and don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to oppose to what you're saying. I just usually find myself sharing the bigger beers anyway, so I learned to not look at the cost. I don't mean to sound like an asshole that doesn't care about how much he spends, that is definitely not the case here. But yeah, I'm 100% with you on the 12oz bottles/cans. For some reason none of the "good" SoCal breweries want to make the first step. I would think MT could do it since they really listed to what we say and on top of that are using cans already.
